Disney After Hours Event

Just in case no one believed the first one, they kept tonight's event as scheduled to prove to more people that this event has failed.

Running an experiment only once would be a poor sample. Especially when there are so many driving factors.

This is something they may have to push to get the motor going... But if they don't get the rave revues/surveys... They will see the writing on the way.

Right now they may have an event some love... But awareness is low.. And breaking the price concern will take some tricks.

Disney can try other things like adding a discount/sale pitch to everyone doing adr or calling reservations...

But if they start giving LOTS of freebies out... And that becomes common knowledge... People aren't going to be even less willing to play to sample this, hoping they score a freebie

Disney resort guest mom: "Honey, it's $149 per person to go to the Magic Kingdom tonight. Do you want to buy tickets for all of us to go? It will be $600 for all 4 of us to go but they have free Mickey bars!"

Husband: "$600?!! It will be free if we go tomorrow night during EMH and I'll buy you a whole case of Mickey Bars."

Honestly, I don't see resort guests partaking in this much. It seems geared at people staying off property. And the price is so high because Disney is trying to recoup the money they lost from those guests who are staying in more reasonably priced accommodations.

More like 'hey, I heard tomorrow night they are having a party where you have the park to yourself!!! can we go? can we go?' -- This after a day of waiting in 1-2hr lines in the heat of the day... Pappa may see that price in a different light when he wants to avoid repeating today...

Depends on the age of the children I guess. I can't see paying $150 for my 7 year old to be a miserable SOB at 11pm.

If my kids can't take waiting in lines at a theme park in the theme park capital of the world, they don't deserve me spending $600 for 3 hours of 1/3 the parks offerings after they close. That would be a failure of parenting for me as my kids would learn to whine until they get what they want from then on.

When you are a parent... Your perspective will change. Not to say you will just buy your way out of things... But how you even interpreted that situation.
If you do it right and plan accordingly (following a touring plan), you really wont have to wait at all. Your longest wait will probably be for food.

Somewhere in California Iger is drafting an e-mail to the person who came up with the $149.00 + tax moneymaking scheme.
It likely contains two words. YOU'RE FIRED!!!

The several levels of management above him who approved the outlay (running MK and all the buses for 3 hours ain't cheap) without even basic research as to whether there is a market for this will probably be wished good luck in their future endeavors as well.

But Disney is a business ...

Yup......
So much for "Knowing what the customers want."
It always amazes me that people in positions that make billion dollar decisions, drive Merc/Porsche/Audi/BMW/ luxury vehicles, wear hand made clothes, eat at the most expensive/exclusive restaurants, vacation in the South of France, and live like Kings and Queens, have the audacity to believe that they know what we, Average, once Middle Class now upper Poor level, live from pay day to pay day, buy clothes at China Mart, eat at cheap fast food places, people want when we visit/buy from/patronize their business once a year.
They are clueless and are in desperately need of a reality check!!
