We attended our first after hours event at Magic Kingdom in 2019 and loved it, it was three hours of so much fun we had a blast. I'm not stoked about the price but it won't keep from attending on October 12th is when I hope to be there for my next trip

I already had a reservation off-site 9/30-10/5 at Springhill Suites Flamingo Crossing for the 50th anniversary. I just extended to check out 10/6 for the Boo Bash on 10/5.

As a Silver AP holder, I have three rolling park reservations. My plans are:
10/1: EP (hope to park hop to MK later. Park capacity will determine)
10/2: MK
10/3: HS
10/4: With 10/1 expired, hope to make a rolling park reservation for AK
10/5 (day): Whatever the mood strikes. Regular park? Water park? DS?
10/5 (evening): MK Boo Bash
10/6: Check out

It's not a party night. It's an After Hours Event. Compare it to Villains After Hours, not MNSSHP.

And you do get candy (as well as the ice cream). But no stage show.

Oh, its good to see they are providing the snacks! I missed that.

Barring some horrible increase in numbers in the next few weeks, Covid is not going to be a problem this fall in this country. It appears to be going away. Covid as an excuse is not acceptable for an excuse this fall.

Amazing 50th entertainment is, but I’m not holding my breath, it sounds like normal entertainment won’t even back yet.

I mean...fireworks will be back. Do you want them for 3 nights per week or 7?

It's an alternative since running parties may not be feasible due to COVID. Closing the parks early for a party isn't as reasonable given the limited capacities - park hopping may not be as much of an option. Character meet & greets may not happen. Shows may not happen.

An alternative would suggest you still have a choice between the two - you do not. It's this or nothing - that's why for at least 2021, it's the replacement offer.

Disney appears to be saying "we can't do parties yet but we can do this instead". It's apples and oranges, yet some people want to evaluate this AH event as a party, even though Disney is saying it's not a party.

Because Disney is literally offering this INSTEAD of the party. A product which has a huge built in customer base and inertia - which is why Disney can't escape the comparisons. It's not a 'false comparison' - it's literally the comparison Disney setup by running this event in the same pattern, space, and in lieu of the parties.

There is a huge base of customers who want to do these Halloween Events at Disney... in large part because Disney has shoved it down everyone's throat for the last two decades and conditioned people to believe this is what you want! No one should expect that customer expectation to simply disappear because you re-classify the title.

It's just not reality. By doing this in the same pattern, with the same theme, and in place of the Halloween parties - Disney created this monster.

IF you wanted a halloween event - this is it. That's why people will draw the comparisons and try to decide if it's worth it to them. Disney didn't offer a new DAH in addition - they put this in the party's place.

I don't disagree. But if they can get this much money for this event, a true benchmark event like Not So Scary does not need to come back

Neither of those are happening now or imminently.
If Disney isn’t doing these by fall, they are being cheap. Their competition is running their seasonal event at 100%, Disney is running their other seasonal event at 100%. It’s incredibly lazy, people are going to expect these things by the fall. The 50th is going to drop like a lead balloon. It takes at least a decade to recover from a few years of bad service. I don’t understand how you keep defending them.

Children should be able to be vaccinated by the fall, and last check Covid continues to decline.

The general public is not going to accept Covid as an excuse for poor service by the fall.

Okay, so they are planning on roughly 20k people per week (a very rough estimate). At $150 a head, that’s $3m per week. A week of MNSSHP sees about 100k people. At $100 a head, that’s $10m per week. 90-degree perimeters, a parade, and Spelltacular don’t cost $7m per week to put on.

The parties will return. They just also want DAH.

Who is offering parades?

I’m not bothered by this, but the Disney parties have never really been my speed, especially for Halloween.

I am interested in how HHN prices shake out this year. From what I can tell it should be pretty much normal.
