Disney After Hours BOO BASH

October's prices jumped pretty high. I've got a trip booked for early December so I'll be interested to see how the Christmas version pricing goes. I don't know if I'm willing to drop $160-$170 per ticket - especially if December doesn't have any DVC or AP discounts. I'm hoping that the Christmas DAH tickets don't go on sale until after the Boo Bash events have already started so that I can get a feel for how crowded these events will be and if they're worth the elevated price tag during the month of the holiday since I assume December will cost more than November.

I think this is my biggest hesitation as well. There's no knowing if they're overselling tickets. They claimed the Halloween party would have smaller crowds but the crowds were almost double what we experienced during the day. At least they felt like it.

The problem is we shouldn’t have to “buy” things we used to enjoy for free (park hours, better seating at shows with a more expensive dining package, resort parking, soon to be fastpasses, etc etc). It’s a trend and it’s not a good one and how it looks to guests.

I know this Halloween party or whatever they call it is going to have some extra things, but when compared to the Halloween party of old it is more expensive, less time to enjoy it, less special offerings, but now with ice cream and soda. For a family of say 4 this is major expense on top of their likely already park tickets for that day.

the defenders will say they haven’t shortened hours...

what they’ve done is not extend hours when travel patterns have shifted away from summer to the off-seasons as Normal crowd levels have steadily risen since the Eisner/Wells build out.

...you just have to identify the problem and not push Disney’s semantic misdirection.

The Christmas event will go on sale in July, last I heard.

Thanks! I was hoping that the approximate 2-month window between the on-sale date and the first event date would hold true for Christmas, too, and put the on-sale date to early September (with a few Boo Bash events in the rearview mirror so I could read some reviews) but I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part. If pricing is the same and there's no AP or DVC discounts in December then we'll probably pass. There's always a chance that we'll change our minds later, but I'm operating under the assumption that tickets will sell out by the time we might have a change of heart (assuming capacity really is limited to typical DAH events) since glowing reviews of the Boo Bash are the only thing that will make us even consider dropping $159 on it.

Yes I have several times - the free ones for dvc members

I’ll just save my money to use for fastpasses we’ll have to buy to enjoy it like we used to

Those Moonlight Magic events were great! I really hope those come back again in the post-COVID era. I know many people aren't optimistic about any DVC perks coming back since they already have our money, but what DVC doesn't have is the money for unsold Riviera contracts or any of the contracts for other resorts that were bought back under their right of first refusal. So there are still people out there who need to be convinced to buy into DVC and not all of them will be hooked solely on the idea of long-term savings on Disney vacations and a DVC discount that isn't too different from an AP discount.

In years past you used to be able to get tickets right up to the event, depending on which nights of course, but with this I don’t know how it will play out. If I had to guess, opening night and the end of September and all of October will sell out due to the 50th, and of course closer to Halloween.

I know we keep talking about the crowds for the 50th but do we really expect more just because they say it’s a 50th celebration and put some paint on the castle? I know ratatouille will open but don’t know what else is the major driver other than maybe some merch or am I forgetting something

It will be very busy this fall.
