Do you ever think Disney World will expand to a 5th park? I know talks about a new one couple years back called Night Kingdom was a rumor but never happened. Do you think it'll happen or just they'll stick to expanding the 4 other theme parks?

They need to fix three of the parks before they ever think about building a fifth park. Plus, there are two water parks that probably need to be refreshed too. Time will tell - never say never. I do wished they would have built a smaller stand alone Star Wars Park that had a couple DVC resorts connected to it.

Do they have the space and resources? Sure. Is it viable right now? I can't really say with any authority, but probably not. Would it happen any time soon? No way. Heck if they started turning dirt this weekend it probably would be done just in time for my non-existent grandchildren to enjoy.

I say no right now, but the future depends on a lot of factors. These are the factors:
1.) The nature of the Orlando theme park market. This is a key since Universal is getting a 3rd theme park at some point, besides Sea World and the current 4 WDW theme parks. A market can handle so many theme parks that you taking a chance of one the parking turning into a flop after so many theme parks get built.
2.) Would a 5th park cause current WDW theme parks to get a decrease in attendance? I am calling that a factor because of the opening of Disney's Animal Kingdom caused Studios and Epcot a negative impact in attendance at the time.
3.) Depends on the shape of the 4 parks. Right now, Epcot and Studios isn't exactly in the shape needed for starting a 5th park.

I'll take a different view than many here and say... yes, I think they definitely will, and sooner rather than later. My gut is that Universal is on the verge of announcing a third park. If they do, I think Disney will feel compelled to respond with a fifth park. Don't forget, it was the opening of Universal Studios Florida in the first place that prompted Hollywood Studios (then Disney-MGM Studios) to be built, and the success of Universal with Wizarding World of Harry Potter that has prompted Disney to step up its game in terms of expansions. I see the same happening with regards to a new park.

My prediction: Within 24-36 months, both Universal and Disney will have announced brand new theme parks.

Universal Studios Florida wasn't open when Disney-MGM Studios was built. Planning a theme park and it already being open are two different things. Universal Studios Florida already had plans being built in 1982, but it was put on hold till 1986 and it took them June 7th, 1990 to open the park.

Disney-MGM Studios was opened May 1st 1989 and Universal Studios Florida was opened on June 7th, 1990.

What is true is Universal's plans of building a theme park in Orlando influenced Eisner to build Disney MGM-Studios. Eisner know about the plans and rush Disney-MGM Studios to be open.

yeah when Epcot, Animal Kingdon, and Hollywood studios have as many attractions as Magic Kingdom/disney land then do a 5th park
The Magic Kingdom is nowhere close to be properly built out or having an attraction count similar to Disneyland's. Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort should not have similar attraction counts. All four of the Walt Disney World parks are under built with transit and waiting really taking up the bulk of the Walt Disney World experience.

So, DLR is the better vacation spot? I've never been there.

I'm not goin to deny people's love of the "bubble." It's just that the common wisdom is that Disneyland Resort is a three day visit and Walt Disney World is a week. Yes, Walt Disney World has more outside the parks but the bulk of that is restaurants and shopping, but that is not the focus of people's trips. Even with all of the planning people are wasting two days in just getting around and doing much of nothing at Walt Disney World.

I do not see a fifth gate anytime soon. TDO will have too much on its plate with the DHS rebuild and then (hopefully) Epcot for the next decade to consider a new park.

First of all, there are like a million other past threads on this here, the search box would be a viable option for you OP.
Secondly, they need to fix 3 of the 4 existing parks before they even think of building a 5th.

EPCOT has so much potential. At least DAK and DHS are getting some love. And did they ever announce what the 350 million each for EPCOT and MK? Future World could be rebooted pretty fast. Everything is there just needs a lot of updating"

I've probably miss my chance to visit DLR with all of the closures coming up for the next few years.

Most people (at least on the forums) want the money to go to Future World (reopen WOL, redo Imagination, redo UOE, replace the Nemo overlay at the Seas, rehab LWTL, build a new Horizons 2.0, and all the other usual suspects), but I have not seen any definite, credible project news.
