Disney adding a new park?

Any Universal news will be met with subsequent WDW news. Disney would have done far better and one-upped Universal one better had they just created a Star Wars theme park from the ground up in Florida. They could have really transformed rather than bolted on something.

I honestly don't see why they won't do this. They have the space, and star wars is big enough to warrant a whole park. Just get rid of star tours and the other star wars junk in mgm and move it to the new park. We can keep the osborne lights and maybe add some new stuff to mgm that's not star wars that will be just as good.

I think that's the point, though. Disney hasn't been responding to these major developments by Universal, and they now have come to realize that was a mistake.

Have they come to realize? I just don't see it.

Hence, the sudden massive investments that Disney is making by pumping billions of dollars into New Fantasyland, Avatar Land, Toy Story Land, Star Wars Land, the rumored expansions at Epcot, etc.

None of which is as ambitious as a new Gate, and some would argue are all just "due" to keep the parks fresh.

And see- this is just more evidence that Disney still does NOT feel reactive to UO. If they WERE going to create a 5th gate, SW really would be the perfect IP to anchor it. But to Disney - 14 acres torn down and rebuilt is "enough." Which is all we get from Disney these days.

There is no rumored expansions at Epcot. What is going with that plot of land between Mexico and Norway isn't rumored at all. Disney made that area official at d23 as a Anna and Elsa Meet and greet area.

There is rumors about a phase 3 and a phase 4 for DHS. The location for Phase 3 is Lights, Motor, Action! and Catastrophe Canyon.Phase 3 is supposed to be based on a Pixar ip

A rumored Phase 4 is where Star Wars Launch Bay is. All is known about phase 4 is it isn't a Princess land or a Pixar Land.

I'd be happy with an Iron man inverted flying coaster, and Generally 2 or three other Marvel themed rides. =)
I can't argue wanting an Iron man Attraction, but Disney can't use Iron Man at DHS based on the Mississippi River contract Universal has. Any character in the current avengers family is off limits inside a WDW theme park. The only Marvel IP's DHS can use currently is Big Hero 6 and Guardians of the Galaxy.

There is no plans of any agreement of Universal giving up all Marvel Character rights Universal has to Disney in terms of WDW. I am bring the IP rights thing up because of the Incredible Hulk coaster. The Hulk coaster is getting a new redesign and it wouldn't make any sense of Universal getting a ride of the Marvel rights out of Islands of Adventure as a result.

Phase 4 isn't likey to happen for at least 10 years so anything is possible.

Be aware that the Hulk being completely overhauled at Islands of Adventure is just the first part of the overall Marvel upgrade there. It isn't leaving.
So what? My understanding is the east coast exclusivity contract was only for 10 years and nearly 4 or 5 years of that has already passed.
