Dirty hotel rooms

I stayed in the Polynesian Resort this past weekend and when we got to our room it was very dirty. There was a large bag of trash in the room, used soap in the soap dish and shower and papers with hair stuck to it on the nightstand. At $300 + dollars a night we were disappointed to say the least. We call the front desk and the "kid" that answered said I am sorry and we cannot do anything till morning. The next morning we spoke with the manager and she was very nice and gave us %50 off the stay.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
I have stayed at the resorts many times and never have had this happen, especially not at the Polynesian. Has anyone else had this happen to him or her during their stay?

The only time I ever had a problem is when I went in May of 2004. It wasn't an issue of cleanliness really but here is my story in case anyone is interested; we left in the morning for breakfast and to go swimming, came back mid day the room was clean and we left again to the parks. We stayed late at whatever park we were at that night and when we came back every light in our room was on and the fan in the bathroom was on full blast. I looked around and nothing else was out of place. Here is the absolute weird thing when I came back from swimming I had shorts on that were wet so I kind of hung them off my suitcase, well they were missing. And my daughter had a little rubber duckie she had taken with her that was on the bed, also missing. So totally bizarre. I thought I was going crazy. I felt like a fool but I called the front desk wondering who had been in my room. (And I knew they had to have been in there recently because those fans are on a timer and it hadn't run out yet). The hotel manager came to our room and asked if I wanted to "file a report" for my missing shorts and rubber duck, which I didn't want to. She said she'd find out who was in our room and let us know and they never called us. We ended up checking out the next day anyhow to go home but I often wonder about the person who came into my room to turn on all the lights, the fan and steal my Champion shorts and a rubber duckie from the dollar store. Very odd.

I had a room some time back at the CBR that had a baby roach problem. I live in Florida and I know what's normal. I called the front desk after seeing 3 of them within an hour of checking in. I was told the hotel was full and so I couldn't have another room but they will "spray" for bugs immediately. We left when he arrived and came back late that night. After seeing 2 more very live babies the next day I demanded a different room and got it.

oh my god  !!!! thats disgusting. if there was no other rooms available in the hotel i would of demanded that i be put in another hotel after all youve paid for something unless you paid extra for the roaches :hurl: . i wouldnt of let that lie i would of been totally ed off.

forgot to add that when ever i would come home from a park the bathroom in my room would smell of smoke ie like someone had been smoking, it knocked me sick, i use to either put the fan on or spray my perfume from duty free!

Sounds like you had a maid with a upset stomach who stole your champion shorts since she ruined hers and then kidnapped the rubber ducky since he was a witness!!!

i stayed at the Contemporary last December and when we got the the room at 10:30 that night, it was dirty...toilet looked as it had vomit in it, beds had "wadded" sheets underneath the bedspread, furniture and tv screen was smudged and smeared with greasy fingerprints, lightbulbs were burned out and the floorlamp was broken and leaning against the wall ( not to mention that my luguage was supposed to be there when i got to the room (i paid extra for that service) and when it finally got there, my drinks AND snacks had been broken into !!! i called the front desk and they said that they could do nothing about it (no switching of room, no discount.....nothing) except send up maintainence and housekeeping !!! at 10:45pm until 11:30pm.... thanx Disney, after i paid almost $600.00 a night for this tower, park view room..... have stayed in this hotel too many times since 1971 to mention..... but i'll never stay again there !!! boo-hoo, i'll miss it

I've had that happen twice at the FC! Both times rooms near the Arcade/General Store. The first time it was crawling on my infant DDs baby bottle, other time in the bathroom. Not tiny. I went to the lobby and asked for the manager on duty. They gave me a CM to watch the baby while I packed up the room and moved immediately, while DH and DS went off to the parks. When we returned we had a huge wicker basket filled with all sorts of NOLA type spices, rubs, sauces, dips etc. Sometimes I think the Lobby is a better place to have that conversation than telephone. If no room is available ask to be moved to a different resort.

I guess we have been lucky. Not once did we find the room dirty at the Poly. IF our room was in that condition, Id ask for mousekeeping to come up ASAP or give them the option to move to another room. I totally agree for what you pay for at the Poly, youd expect the room to be in tip top shape. Atleast the Manager was kind enough to give you a discount on the room, but what a way to start your vacation. Glad all worked out though.

I've never had a dirty room, but I have had bad maid service. I got back to my hotel room at 7:00 PM and the maids were just cleaning te room next store. I was really surprised to say the least.

Oh heck no. I would definitely demand to have us moved to a new room.

I generally feel like hotels/resorts are dirty, even when they look clean. I hate stepping on ANY floor with bare feet, including the shower.

Im sorry about your situation. This is horrible for that price. Having stayed at the Contemporary more than a dozen times myself, I know.

What I found interesting was that you waited over 9 months to post your frustration and went back over 6 years to find a thread to restart. Not sure why you would choose to do it this way,
