The one item that I wonder if I really need is the resort folder that you get at check in. Most of items is all ready on the resort channel TV like pool hours, towels, phone numbers in case of emergencies etc. it also contain the park hours for the week but I guess you can pick it up at the front desk. It would nice to have in your room when you enter the room. The Resort items like Movie under the stars can be exchange out each week.

Is there any reason that they can't be part of 'making the room ready'? I know it is one more thing for housekeeping to do, but leave the literature on the desk when they make sure there are enough towels.

Another option would be to email a .pdf of the info to you. That way, those who don't want it, they don't have to have paper copies.

I did pre check in and curb side check in both at FQ and me personally I loved it. When I checked in at Riverside in January all they did was verify my phone# to text me my room # when it was ready and I was off. If my room is pre paid or has a cc on file I think not having to go to the desk is great. It's obviously still in the testing but I think once it's fully rolled out it will be a great option

Or they could just add it to the MDE page/app? Maybe

Most of it is already there, isn't it? it has dining info.. pool hours.. spa hours.. etc..
Yeah, pretty much ️haha About the only thing of real value in it is the parking pass which I'm sure will be gone at some point. I use my AP for parking so maybe resorts will go to something else who knows

I don't know the numbers.. but I would imagine it is a pretty big percentage of people that use MDE, and don't have a car that don't even care about the parking pass.

Others have pointed out that they are often available at the guard post when you enter the resort anyway..

Yeah exactly. I remember back in the day you just scanned your room key to raise gates to the resort lots and the guard was just at visitor lot. Maybe go back to something like that? Scan the MB and be on your happy way lol

There is no reason why most of the info can't be a permanent folder in the hotel room, updated seasonally, this is the way almost all hotels provide information on restaurant hours, pool hours etc. The "newsletter" that gives the movie and other entertainment times could be left in room by housekeeping when guest changeovers occour.

My daughter got the e-mail this past weekend regarding the direct to room check-in. They arrive tomorrow. While I think it's a great idea, sometimes my Magic Band won't open the room door. Yes, it's linked in my MDE and it's the same band I used my last trip a month ago. I'd still have to make a visit to the front desk....

I've gotten the parking permit at the guard house upon arrival or in my folder at check-in. And when you re-enter the resort in your car, they now scan your magic band. The guard told me the parking permit means nothing at the resort - it's more for those resort guest driving to the parks since they get free parking.

I just assumed you would also use your MB to park. Seems logical.

Not when you first enter the resort - the guard looks at your name on the list and sometimes hands you the parking permit, rather than getting it at the front desk. After that, they scan your magic band when you re-enter the resort. The first time the guard scanned my band, I thought that was the new procedure. So our next trip, when we arrived at our resort, I stuck out my arm for the guard to scan the band. She gave me this funny look and said she needed my name and driver's license. After that, they scanned my band each time I re-entered the resort in my car.

Yes, I understand that this is how it currently works. I meant that I just assumed that they would be replacing the paper parking passes with MB scans. I was responding to the people who couldn't imagine how they could avoid the main desk and still get a parking pass.

According to the guard at the gate, the parking pass is really for guests to be able to park for free at the parks. So I will assume the packet you would normally get at the front desk will be in your room and include the parking pass. My daughter is there now and she had the direct to room, so I will ask her that.

Otherwise the CMs at the entry gates to the parks are going to be scanning magic bands in addition to collecting money and checking AP cards.

I am saying that I assume they are getting rid of the parking passes all together. They could easily make it so you scan your MBs at the resorts and the parks to gain entry.
