I just watched Dinosaur on the Disney Channel, and it got me thinking about people's opinions on the Dinosaur ride in AK. IMO, the ride is awesome, and one of my favorites. However, I think they could've done much more with the idea. What does everyone else think about it? :)

well you have to relize that the ride was originaly themed as Countdown to Extinction. But i am more than certain the imagineers had ever intention of changing the name later. When the park opened with this attraction. Dinosaur was sill in development. I vividly remember going on this ride and thinking geeze those characters reminded me of that movie they are working on I bet they will change the name . and walla.

Dinosaur has been at Animal Kingdom since opening under the name of Countdown To Extiction, this was before the Film Dinosaur was released, therefore upon Dinosaur being released the name was rehtmed hence why the ride is only losely related to the film.

^Thats why you can still see references to Countdown. The Time rovers are called CTX Rovers in some spots. And the "ID" On the wall before you dispatch into the ride is something along the lines of "CTX-WDI-AK98." It may not be in that order but it's something like that. Simple translation, name of ride "Countdown to Extinction" Who made it, and when and where it opened.

CTX was such a better name than "Dinosaur." I'm actually kinda surprised that they haven't changed it back, since the movie wasn't very successful.

It's easier to say.
It's easier to remember. (instead of "that dinosaur ride")

I like nothing about the change from CTX to Dinosaur. No matter how minor some of the changes were, I find none of them to be positive.

Do you know what most people call it still? "That dinosaur ride"

The film and marketing of that film is the ONLY reason CTX was changed.

I love that ride, been on it a thousand times and the stupid Dinosaur that comes out on the side and then the one you see right before the end still scares the XXXX out of me, LOL.

I like the ride. I think it's well-themed. Not sure what else they could've done with it except maybe have a dinosaur pluck a small child out of the vehicle and devour him. Wouldn't that be cool? :hammer:

It's a fun ride, a must see. We ride it often and then buy a poster to bring home with us.
