Dinosaur has seen better days

I'm hoping they can be convinced to keep Dinosaurs through the sales of dino toys. Those still seem to be really popular.

Maybe NatGeo can sponsor it & a retheme of the Dino area.

It’s interesting, to me, at least, to see what rave reviews Indy gets- and then how flat Dino falls…
Well dino just chopped at the legs with budget cuts so its a shorter less interesting version of Indy. Same with Kali and Grizzly. It's a real shame WDW also gets a budget cut and therefore an inferior product that saves money in the short term but does nothing for them in the long term

Somewhere in the future is a great Disney Dino film waiting to be made. And if they're up for it, create a new Dino expansion area somewhere in AK. But the Dinoland as we know it is not long for this world. It was, again the fault of the company to not push for something fully realized and worthy of longevity. It was always a "this will due for now"

I haven't ridden Indy yet, but from what I've seen it is a LOT more detailed than Dinosaur. Dino's in the dark & they're able to get away with less theming because of it. Indy's effects seem a lot more impressive than anything Dino has to offer too.

I think going on an adventure with Indiana Jones is more appealing than driving around a dark Dinosaur filled jungle for most people too.

Eh, I'd only want that if this theoretical movie gets one ride instead of a whole land. Give me some "real" dinosaurs to fit in with the real animals the rest of the park has.

Is it though? I'll take dinosaurs any day. I think dinosaurs are still as popular if not more popular than Indy as an IP is, I just think Indy is a better and more elaborate attraction in a superior themed land and so it's, unsurprisingly, the more popular of the two rides.

Agreed. I don't want cartoon dinos. I want dinosaurs that look and feel like real animals from a primeval landscape.

well one is based on an IP that everyone knows and loves. The other is for a movie no one remembers. Also, I don't think the ride itself is that great for Indy, but the theming makes up for it

I love the Indy ride at Disneyland and I personally would love for a version of that. It doesn’t make much sense in “Animal” kingdom though. How does Indy have anything to do with that? Pandora makes a little bit of sense.

Wait, Dinosaur is based on a movie?? I always thought it was its own thing. It’s based on that terrible early 2000s cgi film? I honestly really don’t remember the plot of that movie as I haven’t watched it in over 20 years.

Oh, I don't want Indy in AK. It aesthetically fits, but it wouldn't fit thematically. Hollywood Studios is where Indy belongs.

Elements of the Dinosaur movie (the Iguanadon & the Carnotaurus) are in the ride, but the plot & Dino Institute setting are unique. Honestly, it's a pretty good version of IP injection since most people don't even realize it. I feel like even if you've seen that movie, you wouldn't really notice since the Dinos don't talk.

I'd gladly welcome an overlay, change of IP or doing up the attraction exterior - if it was not for the fear they would take 2-3 years to do it.

Dinosaur's a ride that's grown on me a lot recently. I was indifferent about it for years, but I've really started to love it over the past year & a half. I don't know why but it's become really charming for me.

I've become fond of Restaurantasuarus too. The theming is so much fun & I feel it's one of the better "Generic burgers & chicken" spots in the parks.

Chester & Hesters can bulldozed tomorrow & I wouldn't care though lmao
What I liked about when there were night hours in AK was C&H as it was cheesy shore but in a good way. Now without night hours and PW gone bulldoze away

I gotta admit, Restaurantasuarus has some decent theming in places a lot of people don't realize or miss completely

Yes, but mostly no. Animal Kingdom and the movie Dinosaur were in development during the same time, and they decided to use the same species of dinosaurs during production. Thats summing things up a bit but about the extent of the crossover. It was only after the park had open for a couple years that the decision was made to tone down the ride's scariness and tie it in name wise with the movie. As a result, the ride's movement was tone down, brighter lights were added in the ride. The Styracosaurus statue was replaced with Aladar and a shot of Aladar was added into the preshow video.
