Was looking for some opinions on Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. Was wondering if u can drive to this show? If so is it difficult to get to or should we get off the bus at magic kingdom and take the boat over? Any suggestions would be great. Is it appropriate for a 5 year old boy?

Last tiem, we drove and just hopped on the internal bus at Fore Wilderness. We would have probably just taken the boat ovr had we been at MK, but we were off property that day. Were going in May again and will be driving again because we are spending the day at Typhoon Lagoon.

I think the Revue is definitely appropriate and enjoyable for a 5 year old.
The easiest way to get to Pioneer Hall is to take the boat from the MK, then walk about 200 yards and you'll be right in front of Pioneer Hall.
If you choose to drive, you'll have to take one of the internal buses, so leave yourself some additional time.

Not old, just vintage.
And start studying the bus routes now. I find the Fort Wilderness internal bus system to be far more convoluted and confusing than any bus system I have encountered...that includes navigating the public transit system in 3 countries where I didn't speak the language. :lol:
The only way I would ever consider going to Hoop Dee Doo again is if I could take the boat from MK and if it was free. I enjoyed the show but I don't like any of the food served there so I felt horribly ripped off in the end.

Our son was just a few weeks short of his 5th birthday when we took him last year and it was fine. Only thing was, for us (my wife, my son and I), it started to get a little tedious after a while and we were ready for it to end and get out of there. Not that the show was bad. We enjoyed it, but we thought it went on a little too long. Perhaps we all just have short attention spans. LOL
As far as how to get there, I like to visit Ft Wilderness whenever we go to WDW and I personally prefer to drive to the Wilderness Lodge and take the boat over. Last time, we actually stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, but the other times we have gone over there, when we stayed at CSR and POR, we go to the Wilderness Lodge. Having never gone to the Magic Kingdom then over, I can't say for sure that my way is quicker, but I just kind of figure it would be quicker, because if you drive to the Magic Kingdom, you first have to park at the TTC, then take the monorail or boat over the lagoon, which can be time consuming. If you part at the WL, you just cut through the building and over to their boat dock. And for me at least, I like having the excuse to check out another part of WDW on the way.
Of course, we could then get into the debate about parking in a resort parking lot without spending any money at that resort, but I sleep just fine at night.

Other options include parking in the Contemporary and boating over, or, liks sbkline, park at Wilderness Lodge and use the internal shuttle bus or walk the path, both of which drop off reasonably near Pioneer Hall. Any of the boat rides (from MK, Contemp or WL) or the WL walkway is more pleasant than a bus, imho, but either way plan ahead for the time it will take

you didn't say if you will have your own car. if so, it is probably just as easy to drive over. the internal buses all stop at the lot where you park, and they ALL go to pioneer hall, you can't get on the "wrong" one. you only need to understand the color system if you are staying there.

My girls around that age love this and have since they were 1, so a boy may even love it more. You can definitely drive to the main hub area and take the internal bus. As for when we boated there from the MK, well on the way back to the MK, it took 2 hours to get back and was a horrible experience and a freezing cold night! I have heard this is a recurring issue so I think we may just drive or bus there if possible.
the one thing to remember if you drive tour car over, no car parking in that area. you will need to take a bus from parking lot to the show and back. it is around a mile walk from parking lot to show area. the campground is very large resort. also depemding on season, lodge and campgound sometimes share boats. could be riding boat back to MK before stopping at lodge esp at night boat goes straight from campgound to MK stopping at the lodge before coming back to campgound. the bus back to your car will be stoppimg at loops to let campers off to get to their sites depend ing onhow many are on bus can be 5 or 6 stops before you nget back to front unless you guys are the only ones on the bus. i do not know where to find but if you can find a map of campgound, i would look atone

Fist off I must day we LOVE the Hoop Dee Doo from the show to the food! It's a must do every trip. We've done it three years in a row. We drove the first time and that was a nightmare! It's very confusing, we parked then had no idea where to go from there. Once we figured it out, we were counting the minutes to make sure we weren't late. It was stressful and we left an hour and a half in advance! The following two times we rode the boat from the Magic Kingdom, still leaving about an hour and a half to get there. That was SO SO SO much better. If you get to the dock early then you don't have much of a wait to got on the boat. Also, you don't get off at the first stop, it's the second. We speak from experience!! :shrug:
