Dinner dress at "nice" restaurants

Hi - Heading down to Disney next week. We have dinner reservations at Coral Seas and at the Grand Floridian with Cinderella. Do people change from their shorts/tees for dinner. Should my husband wear dockers/shoes/nice polo? That's what we think...but would love to know if that's what others do. Thanks so much.

Just dress casually.
In warm weather (usual for FL), most people wear comfortable, casual outfits. :D

Casual dress is fine for both of those restaurants. The only thing they prefer, it is not required, is that the men do not wear tank tops to dinner. Other than that you can stay in your sneakers, shorts, polos....your just fine. Keep in mind, most people are either in the parks or coming from the parks...

I can guaranty you with 99% accuracy that if you dress up for dinner that the table next to you will be filled with people in wet swimsuits. A polo and slacks is more than formal. Espescially for coral reef.

If nicer dress is required they usually tell you when you make reservations. They are also more particular on it only if they are busy. Yachtsman, Flying Fish, Victoria's and Albert's are 3 retaurant's that ask that you be dressed up more when eating there.

Don't forget California Gril. Not sure, but I think Jiko may also require semi-formal dinner dress.

As for anything inside a park, pretty much anything goes.

There's no harm in looking nice for dinner. I would say that park attire would be fine for any in park dining, but I would go with business casual for dinner at the GF. In my experience very few people get cleaned up for dinner but it would be nice if more people did.

I feel the best way to put it is: It is your vacation, make of it what you want! I personally enjoy dressing nicely for nice dinners, Heck, I never spend as much at restaurants in my town as I do at Disney... I will dress up for that type of expensive meal!!! :D

Here's our rule of thumb. By no means is this THE "rule". My wife and I observe the one hour rule. If you are dining anywhere on property (besides Victoria and Albert's, of course), while the parks are open, you can "come as you are". If it about an hour or so after the parks close, we observe the dockers with a polo shirt-type dress. It has been my oberservation that you can pretty much where what you like, though.

what do you THINK should be worn?

All of the comments about people wearing virtually anything even to a 'nice' meal are correct but, IMHO, that does not make it 'right', or mean that you should also be under dressed for a special meal.

At Victoria & Albert's I only 'must' wear a jacket, but I also wear a tie - obviously not because I must, but because I want to - for my wife - who always dresses beautifully for such an occasion, and because it is part of an elegant and special experience. Similarly, no one has to force me to wear nice slacks and shirts at Jiko or California Grill - I do it because its part of the tradition and experience of elegant dining - or at least I feel like it should be. There are more than enough table service and casual dining restaurants at the World for if you don't want to get dressed up or be in too 'formal' an environment - if you are spending your time and money to dine at one of the 'signature dining' restaurants, don't you want it to be something special and memorable? Do you want to be like that table next to westie "filled with people in wet swimsuits"?

I guess the 'exception' is dining in the parks during the summer months - I think its a different story when its really hot and humid and you are walking around the parks, and in that case, comfort dictates more lattitude ....

However, this is for the most part a personal choice issue - and I'm probably in the minority in thinking a 'fancy' meal should be accompanied by a decent outfit ... but my wife is sure glad this is how I feel about it
