Dinner Attire Questions

I was wondering what the dress codes were at some of the dining plan digs. Since Coral Reef has been downgraded from a signature restaraunt is it ok to wear theme park clothes, Such as (shorts, t shirt, ball cap, backpack). Or do you have to go back to the hotel and get cleaned up?

The California Grill i know is dress up, and now i even wonder about Cinderella's Royal Table since it is now a signature meal. Has anyone eaten at any of the above places lately?

And also we have never sampled any of the International Food and Wine offerings. Are they severly over priced or you can get a decent lunch or dinner for under $30.00 for 2?

We went to California Grille in park attire following a trip to MK. Many were just in park clothes

I've seen them let people in who were not properly attired also, but that was after they spoke to them (in the Yachtsman- another couple went to change and came back). They were showed to a very out of the way table away from everybody else. *shrugs* It seems that some places are better at enforcing the code than others.

WDW provides a number of dining opportunities for a variety of tastes. While I realize that it is your vacation and you (not directed at anyone in particualr) feel you should be able to dress any way you wish to go into any restaurant, there are also people who wish to sit in a nice restaurant, dressed up a little bit to make it feel more special, and be surrounded by people who are also dressed up a bit more special than normal.

If you choose not to dress up on your vacation, Disney provides a number of dining options for you that have good food, yet are more casual. However, if you are going to a nice restaurant, please be respectful and dress a little nicer.

I don’t think your post should cause anyone to hand your head to you. I think you are exactly right. What happens is rules have to be put in place because people don’t use common sense and even in some cases decide rules are not worth paying attention to. If people did use common sense than there would be many rules that would not exist.

I don’t think in the past anyone walking into Flying Fish in nice shorts (not camouflage) and a nice clean t-shirt was a problem in July (what I would wear in there) but people would go a step farther and wear wet board-shorts right from the pool and girls in shorts and a bikini top. Since people have to go that far they had to add some new rules. Although I don’t even bring pants to Florida in the summer or anything beyond a t-shirt I will respect the rules and not go there. I can see that they want to create a different environment for their customers.

.....

You have hit the nail right on the head. WDW has something for everyone, from resorts, rides & shows to dining experiences.

We always bring a "fancy" set of clothes (nothing more than a polo & Dockers for the DH to a light sundress/skirt& blouse for the girls and myself. We like to have one "nice" dinner (usually our last night) each trip.
Most of the time we dine in our "park clothes" and are very happy with those restaurants that accept that attire.

Does anyone know what the Dinner shows, like the Spirit of Aloha, require? In the add photo it only shows little girls dressed up in tropical dresses. We are planning to go to this the day we hit Epcot. Should we go back to the hotel and change first or just head there after the park? We are booked for the first show. :veryconfu

Thanks

No dress code for the Spirit of Aloha Show. Most people try and get in the luau mood and wear Aloha print shirts or dresses. I myself don't wear a dress

I saw some cute Mickey and Minnie tropical print fabric that I was thinking about making matching shirts for my family. Would this be a little weird?

Well, not as weird as you in a dress.:D

Thanks for the help!

Thats for sure. I am sure they would not let me in to the show if I had a dress on but I do have the legs for it.

They actually sell matching dress, shirt and kids wear with a tropical Mickey and Minnie on it at the Polynesian but I am sure if you had something it would fit right in. It can't be any worse that some of the Aloha shirts you see on people...including me.

Actually, I love to buy my DH and DS Aloha shirts. This might be fun to have the whole family match for dinner. Now off to the store to find that fabric!

I think I'll go with shirts and shorts though. I can't imagine going on the rides at Epcot in a dress or skirt. I will only be wearing tennis shoes and that just would not work with a dress.

Yea! Other people get it.:sohappy:

You may choose to dress a certain way or wear your hair a certain way or speak a certain way and that is your choice. But all choices have consequences. And some of the consequences are that you don't get into certain restaurants and you don't get hired for certain jobs, etc.

Of course, having said that; Tikiman, I wouldn't mind seeing those legs of yours in a dress.

 Docker style pants and a polo shirt aren't really that fancy. Relax, have a good time and enjoy yourself.

Not a problem. I guess it boils down to, if you want to dress up to make it special, go for it. I know when my lovely wife and I went to V & A's on our honemoone it was rather neet dressing up and having two or three different people on the bus to say, "You must be going to V & A's".

This depends...in the middle of july you will want to change into something dry after sweating all day but its not mandatory. While 90% of the dining audience will be dressed in propper clothing there will be those in tank tops with a bathing suit for pants and most likely they will get seated next to you...you know kinda like cousin Eddie from National Lampoons. Epcot to me is espically hot in the afternoon sun at WS. The only thing worse is AK. Im not sure if you will feel more out of place wearing the wrong cloths or wearing those lei's (sp?) to the park the rest of the night. What ever you do enjoy your self wearing what you think is propper attire for the occassion and what is confortable..........remember your on vacation.

Oh yea... say hi to cousin Eddie for me.
