I am going back to Disney in Nov. and I was wondering if anybody ate at Coral Reef and the Donalds character breakfast at animal kingdom. How was it and would you do it again?

I've heard good and bad on both here, and on AllEars. But, I've decided to take the plunge and I'm dining at both next week. I plan to post a trip report. I'll let you know then. :D

We loved Coral Reef, we're doing it again on our honeymoon! The food wasn't the best that I've ever had but it was pretty good. However, what you're really going for (like almost all of Disney) is the experience. It was magical. We had a great waiter even though it was really busy he was very attentive. Also, it was my sister's birthday and she had one of those pins so we got a seat by the tank and they brought out a free dessert! We also had a diver come down and on his little board wrote "happy birthday" to her! It was really special. If you'll have any type of special occassion make sure you let them know they will most certainly make it memorable.

On the other hand, my experience with donald's breakfastosaurus at AK was not so good. If you're looking for an AK breakfast, have you considered Boma (AMAZING!!!) or if you're looking for a character breakfast I would recommend Chef Mickey's. I think one of my biggest problems with breakfastosaurus was that the food actually tasted like it was breakfast from McDonald's just like the other meals there. However, I know others have had better experiences... just thought I would share mine.

I've seen some bad reviews of Coral Reef on here, but we LOVED it. None of us are seafood eaters (we're bad New Englanders,) but the waitress convinced my boyfriend to try the grilled mahi-mahi and he thought it was great.
My friend got the prime rib, and I got the strip steak. Both were pretty good, can't complain.
It really is the atmosphere there that makes it a good meal. Plus we got a very nice, attentive waitress.
And the giant sea turtle sat and stared at a girl sitting next to the tank for her entire meal. It was hilarious.

I'm going to differ majorly in opinion here.

AK's Character breakfast at Restaurantosaurus was FANTASTIC! And we've done every single character breakfast in WDW... this is in our top 3 for sure.

Why?

1. The rooms are smaller so all of the characters are usually in the room at the same time, meaning you can get pics with multiple characters. AND they have fun and tease each other while in the room so it really makes it a great party and alot of fun to see them interacting with each other!

2. They have VERY good food. All the character breakfasts have good hot food... it's pretty much all the same... but this one has an Excellant cold bar, with lots of fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, donuts etc. The pineapple we had here was hands down the best I've had on property.

3. The OJ was ice cold and delicious!!! After drinking minute maid in a bottle OJ for a week... the fresh OJ here was sooo good.

Annnnd I love that it's in the park. You can just walk outside the restaurant and be right in the middle of everything.

Frankly Boma (unless you're staying at AKL) is too far to drive for very little atmosphere, no characters and the decent food.

I highly suggest sticking with your character breakfast... you'll love it! We always have and will again on our next trip! :sohappy:

As to the Coral Reef. It's not fantastic... but it's a great atmosphere with so so food. There's much better food in Epcot, but this has a special flare all it's own. If you've never been, it's worth trying once. :)

I completely agree with everything that jesserin has said. Breakfastosaurus is a great breakfast. My daughter doesn't like traditional hot breakfast food so she really appreciated the cold bar, too. The donuts and the fresh fruit is what she filled up on.

I've been to Coral Reef once, last August. It was OK but I'm in no hurry to go back. I've been to Donald's breakfast at AK twice, and would definitely consider going back.
