Dining Plan Questions

Never done the DP before, and we are going next week during FD.

I just realized I may have overbooked sit down dining options. I am not sure. Do you still get dining on the day you leave? We don't leave til 1pm to go home. We are there from 27-31, so that means we have 5 days of FD not 4, right?

Also, you can use the sit down and quick service in any order, correct? Like we can use all counter service one day, and sit down the next? I think I am reading correctly, that you just have an allotted amount you can use any way, but once it's gone, its gone.

Just nervous and want to make sure we have enough money/gift cards if we don't really have a free ride dining wise.

Thanks!

Dining credits are based on the number of nights you stay. So if you are staying 4 nights, you will receive 4 credits per person.

You can use your credits in any order you wish, so you are ok there.

If you're there 4 nights (leaving on the 31st) you have 4 days of credits.

You're right you can use them in any order, any time from check in until the end of the day on check out day. So you can spread them over 5 full days if you'd like, but you only get 4 days of credits, if you're only staying 4 nights.

Whew! Ok thanks everyone! I only have to cancel 1 sit down, so I think it will be Sci Fi. We were there last time and enjoyed it, but we prefer 50s Prime Time. Plus, I read that Sci Fi doesn't have the best food as of late.

Thanks again!

WOW what a response you got...4 posts all at the same time and saying the same thing. And yes they are all correct. Meal/snack credits are PER NIGHT not per pay so you have 4 of each to use any time within your 5 days!!! So if you need one more meal and have to pay out of pocket take a look at the menus on this sight and figure out which one will be the cheapest and pay for it and use the credits for the rest. Have a fun trip!!!

The only other thing I can think of to add, beyond the accurate info given by everyone else, is that the dining plan credits expire at midnight the day you check out. Some people are under the false impression that once you check out of the hotel, all unused credits expire so they must use them up before checking out, but that isn't so. So, hypothetically, if you are done at your hotel and pack up and check out, and then head to the Magic Kingdom for the remainder of your time, you can still use dining plan credits there.

Just want to make sure you didn't book and signature restaurants because they require two vouchers.

No thankfully I knew the ones that were 2 vouchers and avoided them! LOL

I usually love the signature restaurants, but we will be there w. our 1 yr. old, and fancy dining is not in the picture this time around.

Thank you for thinking of that though! I am so happy so many people responded so fast! :sohappy:

A have a strategy, as I am sure most people here do, to get the most out the free dining...have a quick breakfast in your room before leaving for the parks (cereal or something), then use your quick service for lunch and your sit down for dinner...the snack credits are a bonus since there are so many things that are redeemable for just 1 credit, like a giant cinnabun from the bakery on main street or cheese fries from casey's corner and fried rice from yak and yedi...After my last trip with my boyfriend, we added up all of our receipts from our meals and figured out the amount of money we saved with the free dining (we upgraded from the quick service one to the 1 quick service, 1 sitdown, 1 snack) it was nearly $1,000..we are following the same plan for our upcoming Christmas vacation, except for using a table service for lunch at Le Cellier...:D
