Dining Plan Question

Hi Folks,

This question has come up in our household over the last few days.

DW my 10 year old twin boys and I will be in the World late in August for free dining.

We Have some lovely ADR's including Yachtsman Steakhouse. Looking at the menu, I am sure all the boys will want is on the kids menu. I hade to use 2 TS credits for $10 worth of food. Can I use our TS credits for the adults steaks, pay OOP for the kids meals, and therefor save 4 TS credits say for a Kona Breakfast?

I think I have heard this answered before, and I think the answer is yes, or at least I hope.

You can use them like you want, but not sure..I would think that if you are paying for the twins to share a plate then they should.. Then you would have extra credits Just make sure they do not charge you for them on the final bill. Look it over carefully.. I understand it takes lots of time to fix a ticket..

Yes. Just tell the server you're billing your meals to the dining plan and paying cash/credit for the kids' meals.

As was said, make sure that's how they do it before you leave.

This is very interesting. I wasn't aware you could do this. We are in the same situation taking our 10 year olds to Le Cellier. We would much rather pay out of pocket for a kids meal on that day and use them elsewhere. Can anyone else confirm this just to be sure? Should we call beforehand because if this works out we have some additional planning to do!

Thanks!

The only thing you can't do is use kids (under 10) TS credits for adult meals. Disney put a stop to this early b/c people were working the system. Paying for kids meals out of pocket and then using the extra credits to dine at a signature restaurant for example. But seeing as how kids 10+ are "adults" you can use those credits anyway you please!

This is great news! We do have them as adults since they are ten and this will really help us out for Le Cellier since that was the one place we were worried about. Thanks!

We had free dining in 09/09. We paid OOP for dinner at Plaza so we had extra credits or CRT. We had 2 year old with us too, who technically wasn't on DDP. When we got to CRT we told our waiter that we would just pay for the "little one's meal" because he wanted something off the kids menu instead of the free pasta they were going to give him. Our waiter told us not to worry and brought him the same meal his brother got AND the pasta and never charged us for it.

My motto now is to always tell wait staff what we're doing before we order when travelling with kids and on DDP, the wait staff know the ins/outs of the DDP and can be a great resourse in using our meal credits properly. So just ask when you go to Yachtsmen if you can split the credits up.

I would just make it very cleard at the start of the meal with your server how you want to do this so they enter in the computer the right way the first time and dont have to correct it in the end. This sounds like a really good plan!!!!

That makes sense, since there are no 2 credit quick service meals, that's why they don't track them by type, only total. (Don't give me the "some don't have a kids menu" myth, Disney could fix that in a second just by programming a button on a cash register if they really wanted to.)

What about for an adult? My fiancee had gastric bypass a year ago and since we are probably going to be on the DDP, can we pay OOP for her for some meals and save credits for whatever reason?

The gastric bypass situation doesn't seem to be clearly defined too much (by either WDW or the message boards).

We have done this (OOP) for the kids every time w have gone to WDW. Its has never been a problem, aside from the time we went to Kona Cafe. They treated us like we were stealing food. I don't know why. It it will definitely be fine for you guys enjoy your trip.
