Pre-Trip Did i eat paint chips as a baby?

Once again, it's your favorite trip reporters favorite trip reporter. Prognosticator of Prognosticators ( I don't know what that means I just like Groundhog Day), your buddy, your pal....9000!

I jumped the gun last fall and started a PTR in hopes of visiting in December, but alas,... life, work and the holiday season decided that was a no for me, dog! Even tho my plans of visiting WDW were dashed and i was bummed, I decided to take advice from America's favorite kitchen decor signage which is to Live, Laugh, Love.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I was able to get a DVC reservation which leads us to this unhackneyed report! What makes this trip a bit fresh and unusual is the resort I'll be staying at, but we'll get to that shortly. For now, let's get to the cast and crew of this warlock of a TR! There shall be 3 of us!

First up: Me, the most likely reported forum member of all time. I thank political humor for that title.

Second: My good buddy, Justin who joined me on my last trip. It was his first trip to WDW and he experienced all the trials and tribulations that come with visiting with me. Such as this Lil beauty (IYKYK)

It's Bailey! I'll share details later as to why he is joining us again.

When will we be visiting: late March

And now...Where are we staying? To answer this question, I shall ask you a question. You can call me Joshua, and you're Stephen W. Falken becuase my question is...

The game? Can you name the resort that when people say the name of said resort they tend to not say the full and complete name of the resort but instead shorten it? And here's a hint, which if you've read my prior reports you will know that the shortened title of this resort makes me puke in my mouth when I hear it. There are two primary forms of the shortened resort name. Both make me equally puke the same amount. Now, name that resort??

Big congrats to @donaldtoo for getting the correct answer. And also thanks to those who knew the answer but allowed the fun to continue.

For anybody needing a more specific answer to my question, it's simply that I can't stand when people say "The Grand" , "Grand Flo" or the Coup de grâce which is a combination of both, "The Grand Flo". It's a breach of etiquette that goes against my personal code of conduct ( I know, I'm weird).

I blame these very forums for my utter disdain of not only the abomination of shortening Disney's flagship resorts name, but for most (if not all) Disney abbreviated terms. Why?? Well, let's take a trans-dimensional joy ride back in time.......

Ahhhh, here we are. Behold, ...a younger, much thinner and less grumpy 9000. View attachment 845739

This 2011 variant would log into these forums and discuss mild topics such as the hidden mickey plates in haunted mansion or "will Zach Efron be cast in the new Star Wars movie"? I was new to the forums and not well versed in the lingo of unofficial Disney fan sites. Some abbreviations came quite easy such as POTC and IaSW.

Over time I began notice things like "DH" and 'DD". These weren't extremely difficult abbreviations to figure out. I just noticed a heavy use of them. The more I saw them, I began to wonder exactly why someone would use the abbreviation. A term of endearment most likely. A protection of name identity as well. Totally understandable. I would just notice what seemed to me to be overuse of them. Such as a paragraph with three DH's, and four DS's.

At first I just chuckled and shook my head. But then I started noticing that sometimes people would actually spell out the abbreviation. Such as, "Disney Hubby decided it was time to get some lunch and Disney Daughter agreed". Then I wondered, what's the point of the abbreviation and also that Disney Hubby is more effort than typing husband or hubby (fun fact, Hubby makes me puke in mouth as well). It just annoyed me (again, I'm aware that I'm weird and have issues).

Then....one random morning, EVERYTHING CHANGED!! ( I'm laying the dramatics on a bit thicker than needed but just for the sake of the story) :)

I don't how and I don't know why, but I saw the phrase "ressies" and something disturbing began to fester within. ADR (Advanced Dining Reservation) was a commonly seen abbreviation and it had a purpose, but ressies was just a slang word and cared for it I did not. I saw it used over and over again and it never grew on me. Then one day I was watching a Disney vlogger and they spoke it out loud when they said "we have ressies at Ohana". My stomach began to bubble.

Next up was the phrase "kiddos", followed by people using their child's age as a reference, such as, " I picked up 11and 5 from school and they wanted ice cream". Social media was quickly becoming more popular on platfroms such as Instagram, Vine and Twitter. I would see short form videos on IG and Vine and longer form on YouTube and would constantly hear people saying all the catchy phrases. Not everybody, but some people seemed desperate to be trendy and it was superficial IMO.

I don't recall the specifics but I was watching a youtube video and the guy said "we have ressies at The Grand". I thought to myself that "The Grand" was probly the dumbest phrase of them all, especially combined with ressies (IMO). But later in the video the same guy said "The Grand Flo". In that moment, deep under recesses of my brain a tiny red hot little flame began to grow (Ralphie reference). And it was a wrap for me at that point lol. The pigeonholing effect was complete. The fabric of my tolerance for Disney abbreviations was ripped. And I'm not a huge fan of The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The Boardwalk Resort and Yacht Club are my favorites. It was just the absurdity of the way The Grand Flo sounded to me.

Are these phrases and abbreviations that bad? Honestly, no. They are not. Do I have a personality disorder characterized by a blatent lack of empathy for other people's jubilant use of Disney catchphrases and abbreviations? Absolutely. And for that, please pardon thy.

If you use or have used any of these phrases (and FYI there are many more I can't stand), please know and believe that this is strictly a problem I have and I encourage you to use your favorite phrases and abbreviations in this report. Volley them at me with unbridled enthusiasm.

All that being said,.... Welcome to my paint chip riddled mind for those of you who are still here, and weigh anchor you scurvy scum! There be trip reporting ahead!

OH! And @Wicked Sisters , fret not, cat/kitten pictures are on deck!
Thank you, looking forward to seeing what they have been up to. So pleased you have a trip report coming soon.

PTR continued...

It will have been slightly over 1 year since I've lasted visited WDW by the time we arrive for this trip. I usually visit a few times a year so this has been extremely rough on this old ranch hand. I am seriously ready for a vacation (fun fact, "vacay" makes me puke in my mouth).

And my last trip was with the same 2 people/dogs I'll be visiting with again on this trip! Justin, Bailey (dog) and I visited last March.

This upcoming trip was not specifically planned for them to join me again. I was originally going to go solo with a different dog (to train), but when we were out at dinner a few weeks ago with Justin and his wife I had mentioned that I had a trip planned. We got to reminiscing about our last trip and telling our wives some of the stories and it was easy to tell Justin wouldn't mind going back so I offered for him to tag along if he wanted. He looked over to his wife with the facial expression of a young child seeking approval. I looked at C (my wife) with the biggest puppy dog eyes I could muster and of course they gave us permission. I'm pretty sure the few glasses of wine they had both drank tilted the odds in our favor lol!

We are bringing Bailey to further develop his training and I'll be taking some time to work on some specific tasks with him during our stay. He absolutely crushed it on our last trip but there's always room for improvement.

If anybody is wondering why my wife isn't going on this trip, it's because:

1. She thinks it will be too hot
2. She hates leaving our animals
D. We have a very exciting December trip at WDW thats already booked and she wants to "wait to build excitement". I'll give some more details about this later.

She truly does dread leaving our pets at home. Primarily the cats. Our dogs are all Belgian Malinois and they are fine. The cats are her babies. And right before my 2024 March trip to WDW, we had trapped an outdoor cat to have her spayed but once we got her inside we realized she was pregnant!! She gave birth to the babies right before I left.

We ended up keeping 2 of the kittens.

About 3 months later, one of my clients who owns a farm (and knows that we love cats) called me and said they found a tiny kitten in a hole on the ground and it needed help. She sent this pic

I told her her to bring the cat to our facility (we are partnered with a vet/animal hospital).

The vets checked her out and she had some medical issues that would require supervision. So of course I brought her home.

It's been such a delight to watch them all grow and become such good friends.

As you can see, my wife has a hard time leaving these Lil beauties at home. And I can't blame her.

But I need a vacation! And I'm blessed to have a wife that understands that and is OK with me having a trip with a good friend. Her and Justin's wife did however use their leverage and asked if they could take a girls trip or cruise in return. We of course kindly obliged.
