Trip Report Did i eat paint chips as a baby?

Once again, it's your favorite trip reporters favorite trip reporter. Prognosticator of Prognosticators ( I don't know what that means I just like Groundhog Day), your buddy, your pal....9000!

I jumped the gun last fall and started a PTR in hopes of visiting in December, but alas,... life, work and the holiday season decided that was a no for me, dog! Even tho my plans of visiting WDW were dashed and i was bummed, I decided to take advice from America's favorite kitchen decor signage which is to Live, Laugh, Love.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I was able to get a DVC reservation which leads us to this unhackneyed report! What makes this trip a bit fresh and unusual is the resort I'll be staying at, but we'll get to that shortly. For now, let's get to the cast and crew of this warlock of a TR! There shall be 3 of us!

First up: Me, the most likely reported forum member of all time. I thank political humor for that title.

1172692394_HIGH.jpg

Second: My good buddy, Justin who joined me on my last trip. It was his first trip to WDW and he experienced all the trials and tribulations that come with visiting with me. Such as this Lil beauty (IYKYK)

Here is a more PG 13 pic

And D: This big fella, who some of you may recognize from a prior report:

Screenshot_20250222_084026_Gallery.jpg

It's Bailey! I'll share details later as to why he is joining us again.

When will we be visiting: late March

And now...Where are we staying? To answer this question, I shall ask you a question. You can call me Joshua, and you're Stephen W. Falken becuase my question is...

artificial intelligence horror GIF by Red Giant

The game? Can you name the resort that when people say the name of said resort they tend to not say the full and complete name of the resort but instead shorten it? And here's a hint, which if you've read my prior reports you will know that the shortened title of this resort makes me puke in my mouth when I hear it. There are two primary forms of the shortened resort name. Both make me equally puke the same amount. Now, name that resort??

Thursday!

I posted breif preview of Thursday morning prior but here's a quick recap:

We were up early to rope drop Cosmic Rewind again. This time we left earlier to experiment if the wait time would be less. Neither of us set our alarms but luckily we both were up in time. I took a quick shower and we were able to leave on time. Quick coffee first!

Monorail Bailey with the sunrise

20250327_072141.jpg

We arrived appx 20 minutes earlier than we did the day before. They were srill holding the resort early entry crowds at the gate.
20250327_080505.jpg

They let us in shortly after. The day before, when we arrived they had already started allowing people to queue up near Creations behind the mob of people that were in the breezeway. Today we were able to make it in the breezeway!

20250327_082107.jpg

The above pic is loomong backwards towards the line that wraps around the corner back towards SSE

Below is a better reference of how close were to where we were in the breezeway. The crowd was stopped at the opening on left side of pic.

20250327_081626.jpg

Same as the day before, there was a lot of excitement and energy in the air. We chatted with the folks around us and as usual several people approached to ask questions about Bailey and/or tell us that they too have a Lab. That happens quite a lot when I've been to the parks with a dog. People just approach to tell me they have a dog and what breed/age it is. I know they miss their dog and it's always a pleasure to allow them to share their emotions.

The time went by rather quickly since we were having fun amd also fiddle faddling with our lightning lane times for later. We were able to get our Soarin time from 10:50 to 9:30!

Soon we began moving! Star Lord was out to greet everyone!

20250327_082657.jpg
20250327_082654.jpg

He noticed Bailey amd said hello and paused for a picture. After i took the photo, he turned and said, "get my good side...well both sides are my good side"!

The line moved quickly and were in and loading up in about 14 minutes! They was about 20 minutes fast than the day before.

Our ride song was Ran So Far Away (or whatever the actual title is).

1719178666_HIGH (1).jpg

It was a blast as always! We co sodered that we may be able to hop back in line if the wait wasnt bad but it was already at 60 minutes! We decided against it. But our experiment was a success! We did realize that any given day could be different. But both days took appx 35 of a monorail ride from Grand Floridian to Epcot. Leaving the room 30 minutes earlier was the right move.

I also realize that the time we spent waiting for rope drop and then the time we spent waiting in the breeze way and then 14 minutes to get on the ride was appx 40 minutes. But IMO its a much more enjoyable wait vs a slow moving line through the queue.

Thursday contd...

After Cosmic Rewind we had our LL for Soarin and then over to France to see Remy. Justin had a work call so Bailey and I relaxed by the flowers near the Arcade in France
20250327_100856.jpg

It was beer thirty after Remmy and I was craving a Le Fin from Canada so revered course through WS

20250327_104457.jpg

We sat down near the lake to take a rest and enjoy the amazing weather. Also to decide where we would get lunch!

Bailey decided to take a nap as usual
20250327_110539.jpg

Justin fell in love with Beaches and Cream on our last trip and everyone time we found a reservation during this trip the timing didn't work. But this afternoon we found a reservation just 45 minutes out. We snagged it and made our way to International Gateway!

I stopped to use the restroom on the way out. When I turned around I found Bailey like this...

20250327_103855.jpg

He's a funny guy. And for anybody wondering how you handle a dog in a public restroom, its all about caution amd cleanliness! I find a spot against the wall away from the urinals so he's not potentially laying in anything gross. Usually towards the end of the restrooms in front of the handicap stall is best. If I ever enter a crowded restroom ill just find a different one.

Snagged some pics of Stormalong Bay construction while we waited

20250327_112444.jpg

We checked in and were seated about 10 minutes prior to our reservation time.

We had dinner plans for later so we decided to split the burger as to not fill up amd walk around stuffed all day.

20250327_115039.jpg

Justin got the cookies and cream milkshake.

20250327_114944.jpg

Bailey ordered a nap.

20250327_114109.jpg

20250327_115106.jpg

He prefers to prop his head up on something if possible lol.

We had a great time amd there were about 7 orders of the kitchen sink so.we had plenty of opportunities to practice our "a whole can"!!

We headed back to Epcot after lunch for a LL at Frozen Ever After. I didn't get the ride photo and usually I don't mind but o need to call and get it because Bailey was not a fan of the drop and had latched on to me and im hoping the picture shows it. I noted the time we rode ap hopefully ill get it.

In an odd turn off events I had taken a picture of the Thumper topiary to send back to C as she loves Thumper

20250327_122104.jpg

Shortly after I noticed the Thumper popcorn bucket. Sh had asked me to try and get the carousel popcorn bucket at MK and I called to ask nifty she wanted the Thumper bucket. She immediately said yes!

20250327_142336.jpg

After returning home I saw videos of crazy long lines to get it. That was not the case this day. I walked right up and purchased it. No popcorn, just the bucket. We don't usually buy them nutnshe really wanted this one and it goes bereft with our Easter decor at home.

Stopped on Canada to pay homage to my buddy @amjt660

20250327_142749.jpg

We were able to get a LL for RnR while we were at Beaches and Cream so we hopped on the skyliner

Since most of the trip we had cheeseburgers at Wailulu Grill we had googled some of the best rated burgers on property. Three Bridges at Coronado and Victoria Falls at AKL were highly mentioned on several rankings. We decided on Three Bridges! I messaged @Tuvalu to get some info in regards to a good time arrive without having to wait. She was spot on with her recommendation as we got seats at the bar when we arrived and within 30 minutes the place was slammed!

We hopped on a bus and was there in no time...with the exception of the 18 bus stops at the resort.

20250327_172549.jpg

It was my first time here and I will definitely be back. Our bartender was awesome and the food was great!

20250327_180852.jpg

20250327_180850.jpg

We both ordered the burger and it was a tough call between this burger and Wailulu but we ultimately chose the three Bridges burger. But don't sleep on Wailulu. It's a great burger too.

A lady had sat.down next to Justin. She had mentioned to the bartender (in a somewhat bragadociois way) that she was only there because she was waiting on her club level room. I've stayed club level at several resorts including Destino Tower (I guess now im.bragging lol) and you're totally allowed to go in the lounge before your room.is ready and there is also bars inside the tower. Then I realized it was after 4 pm amd the room.should have been ready by now. Perhaps there was an issue? But I digress.

She noticed Bailey and asked a few questions. She mentioned to us as well about her club level room. I mentioned I had stayed there and absolutely loved it. She quickly told me she's stayed there before and also other club level rooms. It was obvious she had a desire to show off. She went on and on about club level stories and how she had complained sverwlt times about the lack of quality service she had with regular rooms and complained to get free club level. Justin and I just fed her ego wirh responses of "oh wow, you really worked the system " and "you're so smart" in an effort to end the conversation.

As she rambled on I noticed she was very much more focusing on Justin and at one point she put her hand on his leg and it seemed like a clear flirtatious maneuver. She kept her hand on his thigh for an uncomfortable amount of time. I was cracking up. She went to the restroom amd Justin said "dude did you see that"!?

I joked that at least we weren't perceived as a gay couple again (nothing against gay couples). Justin is very happily married and he was not comfortable about the moves she was putting on him. When she returned she continued to talk pretty much to him only. He worked in comme ts on his wife and kids but she didn't flinch amd kept on. He eventually said, "im just here to eat my burger". It was soooo funny as he just turned away and started eating. She tried to recover and said "sorry for talking your ear off ill let you get back to it".

She was not rude in any way. It was just an odd and hilarious (for me) experience.

We caught a bus back to MK and then a boat back to Grand Floridian. I got a shower and took Bailey over to Narcooses for one last whiskey and we caught the fireworks
20250327_212019.jpg

The staff recognized us from our prior visits and asked if we'd like the same seat at the bar where there was extra room for Bailey. Excellent service each time I was there.

This was my final drink of the trip as we headed back to the room after fireworks. We were up at 4 am and snuck out to the car under cover of dark and avoided being seen during our walk of shame leaving. We had an absolutely wonderful trip and as always it was over too soon!

Ill copy @Tuvalu and post some thoughts and observations of the trip next. Thank you everyone for following along and for the many laughs and comments!

Deep Thoughts...From 9000

As I mentioned prior, we had an absolutely wonderful trip. As far as Flower and Garden Festival booths, we hit one and one only which was for the disgusting Campbell's soup vodka drink at Italy. We did not intend to ignore the other booths we simply just did not visit any of them. I don't know why. We just didn't.

One of the biggest differences in this trip was using Lightning Lane for the first time. Overall, I liked Genie + more. LL has so many glitches that Genie + did not. Perhaps my experience was different than others. But LL requires so much more time on your phone, especially trying to get LL's later in the day. It's practically impossible after 2 pm to get anything that is not a 9 or 10 pm return time. Again, this was my experience so im not condemning the system.

We purchased LL each morning. We did not use the 7 day pre booking that we could have. I did actually get on the app 7 days prior to our arrival at 8 am one morning and the options and time frames were basically the same as what we got purchasing the morning of. When I got on at 8 am (7 days prior to arrival), most of the e tickets at MK and HS were already gone unless you wanted a return time of 5pm or later. Attractions like Remy, Slinky Dog, Frozen, and Tianas didnt have availability.

We did have good luck getting decent ride selections when purchasing day of, but again, rides like Remy, FEA, Slinky etc were all gone day of.

The absolute most annoying feature of LL is when you're trying to modify your time and it shows an earlier time is available but when you click on it, it just shows the time you already have. This happened a lot for us. Overall it wasnt that bad and we did get several extra attractions each day but I still like Genie + more and I like legacy FP more than Genie +. Hopefully it will get better but I seriously doubt it.

In regards to staying at "Grand Flo", it was awesome! Big Pine Key is next to the main building which was great when returning home each day. I really liked the new room design and theme as well. Narcooses is a new favorite spot as well.
On our last night, Bailey and I watched the fireworks near the marina entrance by Gasparilla (the QS spot) and I went in to get a smart water and saw they made the sandwiches in house and they looked amazing. I would have tried it during our stay had i known so ill definitely swing by for lunch on my next trip.

Lets talk about Wailulu Grill at Polynesian Tower. You need to go there! It's awesome IMO. We tried several menu items from the burger to vegetable plates and everything was good! The atmosphere is amazing and the service was excellent as well. We did a quick tour of the lobby and I gotta say, it was pretty nice. I just may book a stay there. I do think the tower itself is a bit of an eye sore but inside is beautiful.

Now let's talk about visiting with someone who is new to WDW. Even though this was Justins second trip, it was only his second trip! Many of us who have visited a bazillion times tend to take things slower and enjoy browsing through the shops or taking time to appreciate the little details. And while Justin wasnt a ride commando trying to ride everything, I had to realize that i was once in his shoes and wanted to ride another attraction instead of looking for a new coffee mug or t shirt at the shops. He wasnt against me taking time to shop either, but I knew it wasnt anything he was interested in...yet! Lol.

My wife and I like to rope drop the parks just because we enjoy getting to the parks early and having a fun morning and heading out by noon time to go back to the resort for mid day break and lunch. We rope drop MK and ride HM instead of 7DMT. But I really had a blast rope dropping RoTR amd Comsic Rewind this trip and Justin definitely had the thrill of beating the crowds when we did.

We discussed making it an annual tradition for he and I to visit in early spring since this was round two so perhaps this TR will be repeating itself next year!

As I get older (and grumpier) there are few people I consider true friends but Justin is absolutely a true friend and we have had 2 very fun trips and hopefully there are more in our future! Our wives definitely enjoyed some time having the houses to themselves and his wife and mine are BFFs and we had fun face timing during the trip and when they went out for dinner while we were at Wailulu.

C and I have 10 days booked at BWV over the Christmas Holliday. We will be at WDW on Decmeber 25th! We are soooo excited and Justin and his family are planning on getting their own room and joining us for the stay! Stay tuned!

One last note. This will not apply to most people, but bringing a dog to WDW has its joys and it also has its pitfalls. I know many people see the pics of Bailey and I or any of the other dogs in my reports and most likely think its just a joy to be at WDW with a dog. It is mostly is a joy. But there are many moments of stress and anxiety that come with it, such as the young boy running at Bailey throwing punches in the air, or the full grown adults stopping to talk to the dog and then trying to pet without asking and then I have to be rude and say "please don't distract the dog" and then they are rude back to me.

When we were in line for Ratatouille, a woman (adult) leaned over the turnstile asking if she could "say hello to the dog" while looking and talking to Bailey. I just flat out said "no". She looked back at me as if I asked what color her underwear is. Moments like that happen far more often than you would think, regardless of the "do not pet" and "service k9" patches.

I do my best to remember that seeing a dog in line for an attraction is new to most people but it can take its tole over the course of a trip.

So if anybody is envious of the fact that I get to visit WDW with dogs, please know that it comes with a price. And don't get me wrong, I thank God that im able to do what I do and no amount of rude people will diminish the joy and love I have for visiting with dogs. And I've had so many truly amazing experiences with cast members behind the scenes. But its not all fun and games with a dog at Disney. It requires a level of mental energy far beyond navigating the parks and the Disney app lol!

I seriously want to thank everyone for all of the comments and questions about my trips with the dogs and feel free to ask any questions about visiting Disney with a dog. Im getting pretty good about it! 😀

Signs are pointing towards another visit in May or June with another dog in training son fingers crossed it works out and ill have more adventures in babysitting!

Thanks again everyone for following along!

I know you always have the best interest of your dogs in mind (the quoted comment attests to this) which makes it all the more baffling why someone who is not a professional trainer would subject their pet (not service dog) to the parks.

Just curious: do you find whichever dog you’ve brought down needs a bit of a vacation after the vacation?

Oh yes, absolutely. Baileys mom told me that he slept for 80% of the day for 2 days after our trip! Mind you he is a young Labrador and has energy for days! But Disney drained him.

My Belgian Malinois, Edith was practically in a coma for 2 days when we got back. It takes a lot out of them. They absolutely love working but it requires a lot of mental energy for them in a place like WDW.

I actually was thinking that it must be stressful at times with a service dog at WDW because I've observed myself guests talking and approaching these dogs in the park. I love seeing them when we are there, but I know enough not to even talk to the dog. I enjoy your style of park touring with your getting there early and then enjoying a nice lunch and beverage somewhere outside the park. Thanks again for sharing your adventure with us!
Thank You So Much GIF

Thank you for taking the time to complete this report, and thank you for all that you do to prepare these dogs for their owners. I find it so cool to get educated on the in's and out's of what's involved, and I'm sure it takes a lot out of all of you. Looking forward to hearing about the next trip! As a PS, I haven't done Genie+ or LL, and I'm hoping I don't ever have to!

Great report!
So proud that you were able to close this time line.

Funny you mention it. I had a dream last night that I was at Runaway Railway and as I was boarding I thought to myself that I had finished my trip report so how was I still at Disney World? The dream got very weird and time line shifty from there. Lol

This is for the BUC-EES fans/cult members. One of my clients brought this in today when they dropped their dog off..

It was chalk full of the cult favorites

But in all seriousness, I distributed it amongst our staff, lest I be tempted to join the cult! My client and I had a discussion about that so this was her attempt to indoctrinate me!! Nice try Diddy!!

We did get some good pics with her dog and the Buc-Ees haul. His name is
Maitland.
