Last week went to Orlando to spend few days on International Dr, Orlando on a budget .How many have done this?...... We hadn't been to Disney going on 2 years in July. Going to be going for week in June but really needed a Disney quencher. for 2 days we would go to Disney Springs (spent part day there) then take boat to Port Orleans. Stroll the resort...took carriage ride and swam in pool! Then took bus to Magic Kingdom where we would take boat to Poly..have breakfast outside and soaking in the view. We visited most resorts. Had my Dole Whip at Poly etc. Only problem occurred when we got to Poly the first day( drove) and security asked if we had reservation. Wife said yes and he asked for ID to check. wife immediatly said "oh no we WANT to get a reservation" he looked at us and just said" good luck with that" and let us in..whew! Got to the Pool area with our muffins and coffee but could not get beyond fence without Band...makes sense. BUT was able to get to any other pool ( value and moderate) without any problem)....So in 2 days got our fill of all transportation, sights, sounds, smells, meals etc except parks....I would do it again in a heartbeat

I live too far away to do that, but I don't know if I could anyway. It would be like being a kid in a toy store, but being told you could only look at the toys, not play with them. I have read on here lots of people doing that though.

Make that 2 buckets of tar and 2 bags of feathers. Rules are posted and expected to be followed. Strictly forbidden? Is that like strictly against the law or strictly a sin or ...whatever will resonate with the person.
As for taking away from the guest experience of another, I would ague he did. It has been spring break season. Space and chairs are hard to come by. He didn't pay for that at. a resort and in essence, took it from a guest who did. He affected another's experience. I don't care how much money he spent on crap but if he wants to use the resorts amenities, book a room.
I just came back from a stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek and spent some time at Disney resorts shopping and having Disney snacks and hanging out enjoying entertainment at DS but didn't step foot in the parks (don't feel it's worth the money right now) but you know what we didn't do....swim in pools we didn't pay for!

I say fair play to him. Did he spend money on property....yes. Did he take anything away from a resort guest....No.

If it was strictly forbidden by Disney, they could stop it. But then he probably wouldn't have spent any $$$ on property. Win for the OP and Disney.
Completely irrelevant. Even if there was no rule against it whatsoever, it's still tacky as hell.

OK OK, so i didn't realise rules are actually posted about this, and so I've reserched it and they VERY clearly do, so I concede in the fact that he shouldnt be doing it. But does does it deserve a public scoulding....get a grip!

And as for using resort facilities, I ussume you will never take the opportunity to sit in a seat, in or around resort grounds, to take a break and cool off, because that my friend would be denying another guest...space and chairs are hard to find during busy time dont you know and you may affect somebodys experience godammit!!! lol! ;)

That's a little different, and I think you know that. If a resort guest wants to take a break and sit down to relax, they can easily do that in their room. The pool, however, is a different kettle of fish entirely.

I still maintain that the look of it is far worse than strict notion that they're violating a rule. I'd be unbelievably ashamed to pop on my swim trunks and flip flops, wrap my Chewbacca towel around my neck and load my family on a bus to a resort at which I'm not a guest to go swimming in their pool. That's a Cousin Eddie move, akin to packing tuna fish sandwiches and two-liter bottles of soda to bring in the park with you or ordering knock-off Disney pins from eBay to trade with cast members for the real ones.

So rather than going down the scolding route, you'll go for the poking fun and humiliating route. Nice! Make sure you have a magical day now!

I spent two days at WDW before a cruise in September and didn't go to any parks. I stayed at BLT, went to DTD, had lunch at Grand Floridian Cafe, and dinner at 'Ohana. It was certainly pleasant and I enjoyed myself. It's fine for a pre-cruise build-up, but I would not do it as a stand alone vacation.

Oh Disney will do something if your caught. I have seen a few over the years take the walk of shame by being escoreted out at the Grand Floridian and at the Contemporary.
