DHS Parking lot remodel and expansion

As the others excel, it becomes increasingly clear that Epcot really needs to demo its tram stop and busloop and rebuild the whole entrance. I’m a little surprised they aren’t removing “studios” from the park name as it isn’t really appropriate but neither is Universal Studios Florida. I guess we just stick with it.
Shows are still being filmed at Universal as well as videos. Deal or no Deal was just shot there, as is Oprah Winfrey's new show David Makes Man. Obviously its not used as often as California (or even Georgia) but it is still used, and all the soundstage's are intact for use, unlike Disney.

Is the new security area only a first phase? The right side does not have the rounded end to fit with the style of the new builds. Seems like the other side where guests currently enter / exit will be redesigned to some degree to complete the area.
yes its phases look back a page to my concept art of what the completed security check points would look like

Meh. There's was nothing wrong with the previous names. As others have said, it's a shame to lose more of the studios aspect of the park.

I'm also surprised they went with a lot name that has a number in it (BB-8).

Well, we know the entrance plaza is getting redone so hopefully it spreads to the rest of the park's entrance. Epcot's bus loop is pretty bad certainly needs a massive overhaul. But its tram and ticket booth area is not even close to the terribleness of Magic Kingdom's TTC. That's hands down the worst gateway into one of the WDW parks.
All will be addressed

Iger said the studios moniker will remain but not as the old working studios concept. More as studio showcases. Think World Showcase for studios.

Universal is doing similar with their new park.

No.

Iger said the name was changing.

Disney did a survey with a bunch of stupid names. Internet freaked out.

Disney Park Blog post said the name wouldn't be changing.

I am the one who keeps making the point that "studios" can be understood in terms of production companies and their films rather than the physical studio lot to make the film.

Iger hasn't said anything like that as far as I know, unless you can link the quote.

I am pretty sure his comment was at the last quarterly earnings call or recent interview. Definitely in the last several months. Take my word for it or not. Your choice.

You keep claiming things without back up, so, your word's pretty worthless.

From Official DPB....

In response to questions we have been receiving, we also want to let fans know that the Disney’s Hollywood Studios name will remain the same for the foreseeable future since we are immersing our guests in a place where imagined worlds of Hollywood unfold around them from movies and music, to television and theater.

Iger also mentioned the same.

Yep. Just like I posted above...

Still waiting for you to post a link to where he said that.

As it stands, you are still totally wrong.

How did I know this board would mourn the loss of “Television” in favor of “Mickey?”

That darned IP! “Television” was so original.

Neither are incredibly original.

The current names were unique to the (dying) theme of DHS though.

“Mickey” could be literally any Disney parking lot in the world.
It doesn’t tell you anything about the park itself

You mean the dead theme.

The characters line up with the attractions in the park. That is all. No crying. Nothing has been lost.
