DHS Parking lot remodel and expansion

Though I think this whole subthread started off with someone complaining because they thought the Disney bus stops wouldn't be sheltered. So I guess bus shading (and rain cover) is an expected perk? Or should we say, entitlement? :)

I guess that original person shouldn't be so...

I very rarely make comments and my thought was more of surprise because the other three parks have covered shelters, and I found it odd that this one might not, especially since they were replacing the bus area. I was corrected, and I apologized for jumping to conclusions. After that, this conversation has taken on a life of its own.

That's an interesting group of resorts at the end of the area. I'm sort of picturing a conversation that went something like:
"It feels like we're forgetting something."
"Oh, you're right! We left off 4 resorts. Should we go back and reorder everything?"
"Nah, just stick them at the end of the line."

Heh.

In another thread people have been arguing that the one of the perks of being in a deluxe resort has been or should be closer bus stands.

Oopsie!

One constraint they've followed is that they've kept all the charter bus stops the same between the pre-mid-august version and the post-mid-august version. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough spots on the one side for the Disney resorts and three got relegated to the drop-off-area stops.

I'm sure they could have alternatively arranged for the 3 leftovers to be closest to the park by have the pre-mid-august version have the drop-off area be spots 13-15, so I wonder if this informs us of their long-term assignments for the bus stops? But if that were true we'd see Pop Century, Art of Animation, and Caribbean Beach as the "leftovers" since they won't have bus stops once the Skyliner opens. Hmm, wait, I see that they are in spots 1, 2, & 3 furthest out on the peninsula.

Actually, looking at the Magic Kingdom bus stop map, I think they are going to completely remap the Disney resort stops because a lot of the resorts at Magic Kingdom have double bus stops.

Maybe they've organized them by relative fitness levels of the guests that they're getting from the magic band data? :)

Double bus stops at MK you say? What do you mean?

I was looking at this old 2013 map. It seems to me that some resorts have two bus pull-in areas assigned to them, either on a permanent or primary/backup basis. I'm not sure if this has changed nor how it might have changed with the arrival of the articulated buses (or are those the ones that are labeled 19/20, etc)?

Oh yes! The ones with two numbers are double length, that loop your looking at is the "artic" bus loop. They are twice as long so we can put one artic or two 40's. But even though it has two numbers we still count it as one load zone.

I’m sure this has already been asked but what is eventually going to happen with the old bus loop??? What will go there?

I'm not 100% sure but I bielive that area will become the new security area. The parking trams and Handicap parking will be altered as well. I can't remember but isn't the Skyway going to be inside the security bubble?

Would be smart, if true, to put the boats and Skyway within the secure zone. They are going to have to push the International Gateway security back, anyway. Ideally, you check at Skyway resorts and just put a small satellite checking point along that down slope from the Crescent Lake resorts.
