They may have done this until they can install permeant railings along the side of the bus. That's a pretty bad angle. It looks like they can pull up almost all the way but to the bollards but they made the gap with the curb extra large for some reason. It could be temporary for some reason?
This is also the side that is temporarily handling the Disney transportation buses, and as someone else informed me earlier in the thread, the Disney buses are more likely to have a large number of people waiting for the bus to arrive vs having the bus waiting for the guests to arrive like the charter buses. From the other pictures it looks like only this side has the barriers. I would think they are pushing the buses farther away from the steel work construction for the time being. So, I'm with you that this is only temporary.
Ah, now that would make sense. I was thinking it could be to give a little extra room for when they have to unload a ECV and not have the ramp flip down in the path of people. But the ramps aren't big so your idea makes the most sense. They may have done this until they can install permeant railings along the side of the bus.
Is some shade/rain cover coming with the bus stop redesign? DHS busses back to the resorts seem the worst of any of the parks from that regards. There is no themeing or foliage to look at and very little if any cover from the elements.
In my opinion the final stopping point for the buses is just to pull up in front of the red barriers. That louvered system (step stair) is a classic bus terminal set up. It leaves enough room for the buses to pull out without the one in front having to leave. There is some other reason for the temporary barriers. Could be there is still stuff to go in and they wanted to leave enough room to work and use the area at the same time. That's a pretty bad angle. It looks like they can pull up almost all the way but to the bollards but they made the gap with the curb extra large for some reason. It could be temporary for some reason?

Correct. If you notice the opposite side is not set up like this and is exactly how this side will be set up once complete.Definitely temporary to allow extra standing room that is taken up by the scaffolding for the bus shelter. Would be real tight otherwise as can be seen in the @bioreconstruct aerials.
Ok, just so I can get this straight-the blue bus loop is the one that just opened for the park/resort buses-will this remain the park/resort loop with the red loop being the charter loop after both are open? If that's the case, just wondering why they would put their own buses further away from the park entrance than the charters.View attachment 299100
This yellow path is coming from the Boardwalk and area resorts. The park entrance is towards the upper right corner of this image. 12-13 would be the closest to the park entrance.

So Resort guests in late August into fall will have bus stops with no cover? Should be a treat. Perhaps they’ll erect temporary awnings. The blue loop is the loop that just opened.
It is currently being used for charter and park to park buses.
In a few weeks when the current bus loop closes the blue will be used for charter, park to park, and resort buses.
Ultimately the blue loop will be for charter buses. The red loop and the green loop will all be Disney transport for resort and park to bus buses.
Correct. Resort guests will have no shelter while temporarily using the red loop.So Resort guests in late August into fall will have bus stops with no cover? Should be a treat. Perhaps they’ll erect temporary awnings.
Not that DHS ever had the best rain coverage at its bus loop.
I understand it now, thanks! I am surprised to hear that the green loop will be used with the red loop for resort/park buses ;I just assumed that the red loop would handle all Disney buses and the green loop wouldn't exist-will they be using the red loop for resort buses and the green loop for park-to-park buses? The blue loop is the loop that just opened.

There is no bus parking in the red loop, the white loop is for loading and unloading only.
