Not to dive into armchair imagineering here, but I will anyway. Adding a Death Star as a projection so that it appeared it was orbiting Earth at specific viewpoints of the park wouldn't be impossible. They could even have it occasionally blow up or blow up the Moon.

And I will steer you towards the appropriate armchair imagineering forum -> http://forums.wdwmagic.com/forums/imagineer.15/

With the loss of each attraction the park only gets more exciting!

To the accountants and managers the former seeing the decline in operational expenses, the latter seeing their bonuses expand as people flock like sheep to the park even as the attraction count reaches one the fingers of one hand levels....

Here's every Disney park ranked by ride count.
  1. Disneyland (34 rides)
  2. Tokyo Disneyland (26 rides, 2 going away soon)
  3. Magic Kingdom (23 or 24 rides, depending on whether CoP counts)
  4. Disneyland Paris (21 rides)
  5. Disney California Adventure (20 rides, 1 more coming in 2016)
  6. Tokyo DisneySea (20 rides, at least 1 coming in 2017-ish)
  7. Hong Kong Disneyland (19 rides, 1 more coming in 2016)
  8. Shanghai Disneyland (12 rides confirmed, possibly more)
  9. Epcot (10 rides, 1 more coming in 2016)
  10. Walt Disney Studios Park (10 rides)
  11. Disney's Animal Kingdom (7 rides, 2 more coming in 2017)
  12. Disney's Hollywood Studios (5 rides)

To be honest, it's not the number of rides that count... it's how you use them ;)

Seriously though, quality over quantity any day for me. 1 ride != 1 ride - it all depends on what that ride is. We can agree that DHS has too few rides atm, but Epcot has never had a huge amount of rides, even in its prime, and yet it is/was regarded as one of the best parks, and one where you can easily spend an entire day.

Rides aren't the only thing that matter in a park, if you want that, go to six flags. WDW has a lot of side diversions in it's parks including nature trails and shows (both high caliber and street entertainment) and much more.

Of course DHS and DAK definitely need more rides. There is a point where a park has too few rides, but a park like Epcot can fill a day or more between Future World and all there is to see and do in World Showcase.

Any one know if there is any validity to the rumor that instead of the cooler TSPL rumored, that we are going to get the rides they purchased for Shanghai and then decided not to use there?

That would only be a rumor. The attractions at Shanghai are for Shanghai only. If proven very popular perhaps TWDC may decide to bring an attraction or two stateside. But for now no talks are here to bring in something from Shanghai as they want to make the park the only location to have it so they boost attendance for it's first few years. Simple economics, after all we know crazy enough fanboy and girls stateside who would purchase the airline ticket to visit Shanghai just to see the new rides.

On the topic of how many rides should be in a park, I'll just say the first time I went to Diagon Alley I had an amazing time and Gringotts wasn't even open yet. Take that how you will. DHS does need more rides though and I do think World Showcase could still use the mountains that were ditched but whatever. One is being addressed and the other doesn't have the slightest chance of happening.

I don't, however... Shanghai was to get the Woody version of Maters Junkyard jamboree in lieu of the drop tower, so that's at least one of the two improvements DHS was promised. Slinky Dog Spin is for the wee little ones, not very exciting, but at least it aesthetically pleasing enough.

You are confused, TSPL has been dropped from Shanghai entirely, now partially occupied by Marvel and Star Wars. Presumably there is another medium term plan for that plot of land or too much drama with Hong Kong to proceed with the cloned land. I suspect maybe a bit of both, same reason they are mum on Winnie the Pooh despite it being there.

There was some speculation about whether Disney had already purchased the rides (from Intamin?), and if so would they just send them to DHS instead.

So best advice is to not expect much at D23 just in case.

I didn't realize DLR and DCA had WDW beat in rides. I never been to DLR/DCA, so I don't know if I'm missing anything??? But I find it interesting that two parks can beat out four parks plus you can walk to both, your resort and DTD.

There very well could be something to that.

filling in guesswork and making vague optimistic statements doesn't make someone an insider. Of those people only 2-3 are actually insiders and only 1 of them is actually known and discussed at TDA/O
Spirit is the person you're talking about, right?
Well, @PhotoDave219 and @marni1971 also work hard to bring information to us and deserve our thanks.
@articos and @Lee also have proven valuable and deserve thanks also.
@danlb_2000 isn't an insider (my mistake), but he works hard to check the Orange County permit records and therefore deserves thanks.
I don't claim to be an insider, but I appreciate the work these people do.

Ok I just came across this Twitter account that I wasn't even following but theme park insider was re-tweeting their post, the account @vashsky is saying that star wars land is starting from scratch again and that it was orginally planned for it to come out before toy story play land.. I don't belive anything he is saying, but I thought I would put it out there just in case any of our insiders would like to point out if he really is that crazy or not :hilarious:

Dan does the really heavy lifting. Sorting through public records is time consuming as hell
