DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

First, it's "Wart" not "Ward". They call him that because they want him to HOP TO IT LAD, like a frog or toad would. Second, the Sword in the Stone IS represented, because it's RIGHT there in front of the carousel. The Jungle Book has meet & greets, which not much, but hey. Brave Little Toaster was distributed by Disney, if I'm not mistaken, but not produced by Disney. The Black Cauldron, regarded by many as the worst Disney animated feature ever, will never ever EVER be in WDW again unless there is a massive shift in popular culture and mainstream tastes.
We all make mistakes even the best of us. It wasn't a huge error. Lol I'm sure you even make mistakes.

I'm confused did you not like what I said. Sorry if I take things way too personally. Just thought the underrated disney films should get some play. I brought up the Jungle book because it will be releasing get a new version in April. And warner Brothers have their own version of the Jungle book coming out 2017.

So, a couple of people have hinted that some sort of water ride is on the table for DHS (may not be greenlit yet). We know there isn't a boat ride for TSL or Star Wars (the article about one for the latter appears to be a mistake, probably it was in reference to the boat ride for Pandora).

Can anyone suggest what would be the theme of this possible rumored water ride for DHS if it comes to pass? Indiana Jones? Something for Pixar?

I'm curious what kind of water ride would be on the table? Based on the large expansions for TSL and Star Wars...a water ride would seem out of place unless it was part of those lands?

You know what I find odd? Black Cauldron, the film that faded away into obscurity, has nothing to offer. But yet, Song of the South, the film that Disney is forcing into obscurity, inspired one of the Magic Kingdom's best-loved rides. Don't get me wrong. I've seen Song of the South before (thanks to YouTube), and I thought it was a very good movie. But I wonder why would Disney keep a ride based around a film they're trying to force into obscurity around?

The film as a whole? Yes. However, there are many elements that they will never, ever relegate to obscurity, like Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, often cited as one of the best Disney songs.

If memory serves me correctly and to put a fine point on it. Song of the South was based around the "Tales of Brer Rabbit" by Joel Chandler Harris originally published in the late 1800's. Like I said they were included in the movie Song of the South but not based on Song of the South. What we see in Splash is almost entirely parts of the "Tales" story lines. Since it was published back in those days it did contain things that are questionable now, but, those parts have pretty much been excluded from the ride that we see. Song of the South was basically locked away because it did contain a lot of the early stereotypes and biases that are no longer acceptable in today's society. What we do see in Splash is certainly not objectionable and the only direct connection to the movie is some of the music, like Zip-a-dee-doo-dah.

Just got home from an afternoon at DHS. Saw a set of walls up on SoA between the Library and the Chevy building, where the tree was during Osborne. Not sure if that's still from the removal of the project or if it has to do with the redo. Also, there were a set of walls up directly across from the Muppet 3D entrance. They also shut down the back part of the park at 7 when the rest of the park closed at 830

Take those nuggets of info for what you will!

The title is Uncle Remus His Songs and His Sayings by Joel Chandler Harris. It is a good book when the time and place is kept in mind.

You are correct about much of its history and most of the tales were loosely based on his experiences growing up on a pre-Civil War plantation but all characters including Uncle Remus are fictional.

We were able to get a copy from an elementary school here years ago when the district finally added it banned books list as of 2008.

The wall between Chevy and the Library is customary for setup and takedown of Osborne. It goes up when the tree is being dismantled, and then the globe is placed there to be dismantled as well. As of today, it's basically all that remains of cleaning up after the Osborne Lights.

The walls up across from Muppets are for the Pizza Planet redo.

The back of the park always closes early for fireworks. GMR closes at 6:30, Toy Story and SOA close at 7:00, OMD closes at 7:30. Fireworks are at 8.

Gotcha. This was my first time at DHS in over a year and in the midst of the Epcot talk here, I hadn't seen any of it mentioned. Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, all leftover Osbourne Lights stuff is sandwiched behind that wall on SoA. The 7pm closures are a bit painful given how hard it is to navigate the backside of that park. Getting to Sci-Fi for our 6:45 dining reservation was a bit of a hike as they'd closed off the path past GMR by at least 6:30. That said, the fireworks show is awesome and I hope it's still there in December when I'm back with the family.
