DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

They aren't going to open Toy Story land the same year, or most likely even within a year of Avatar. Disney just doesn't do that. Not even a construction issue, they just first and foremost go by marketing prospects for the resort so they love to spread out new offerings.
I would think 2018 at the earliest for Toy Story and 2020 for Star Wars at both resorts.
The more you look at the Toy Story art, the more impressive it is. It doesn't have the insane rock work of Carsland , but the theming looks to be Carsland level.

You're batting Zero with your predictions. Just pointing that out.

In general, I would agree, but the wild card here is that it's likely DHS is getting a major makeover and Star Wars will likely take out more attractions. Toy Story Land be needed to balance this out while everything else is completed.

New Jim Hill Podcast on Bandcamp. He states very casually that there are at least 2 more Pixar themed lands coming along with Toy Story, Cars-land being one of them. He did not mention the 2nd one.

This is gonna seem really blunt and possibly rude, but followers of these forums will understand.....

Who gives a flying clusterduck what Jim Hill has to say!?!? He hasn't been right yet!

I think it makes the most sense that it will go like this (taking a WDW-wide view):
2016- Disney Springs
2017-Pandora
2018-TSL
2019-SWL/other DHS
2020-SWL/other DHS
Since we know acreage for both SWL and TSL, we know there is that back southern corner that is going to be untouched. Maybe they'll keep Muppets, maybe they won't but there is defiantly something else going back there (in my view). What is back there is likely going to have an E-ticket attraction along with maybe 2 other rides. Overall, Disney will probably want all of this done by the 50th, as there should be a considerable uptick in visitors for that.

Nailed it!..... oh wait. ;)

Been lurking in these forums for a long time and just joined.
If I'm reading the program correctly, Bob Iger will not be presenting at the Parks and Resorts presentation.
From what I have observed of him, loving to take credit for big new projects, I don't see any way that anything major will be revealed without him doing the revealing. I would look for details about already known and currently under construction projects. That's it!!!!

I really want to believe that but its Jim Hill so I'll remain sceptical for now.

When I saw that Toy Story Land had been announced my immediate thought was "first phase". I hope that that will be the case.

Jim Hill also said Monsters land was a done deal for DCA 2 years ago. Was even a contributor in the unofficial guide and said construction was on its way.
There were also tentative plans for a DCA phase 2, which never happened. There very well may be plans for additional phases for DHS after Star Wars and Toy Story are finished, but priorities will change within that time.
Just as likely phase 2 won't happen as that it will, probably even better odds it won't happen. I've just seen too many times what happens to Disney plans that are 5 or more years out. They usually, or often at least, don't come to fruition.

I want to trust Disney with all of this, but the fact that they are adding Star Wars to DL, which already outdraws DCA by almost double, and nothing to DCA, really makes me question their judgement on EVERYTHING. They spent over 1 billion to change the attendance dynamics within the resort, and with this decision, they will erase everything that has been gained and it will be worse than it ever was. Attendance will be insane at DL, I think it will pass Magic Kingdom in attendance with this addition and you will hear crickets at DCA. I can't believe management can't foresee this.

DCA is getting a new E Ticket. They just didn't announce it yesterday.

I was surprised they didn't announce Marvel at DCA, but that may mean they are in the early planning stages. I think it's coming but it may be announced next year.

So I see one of these happening. I don't know nor am I an insider or any thing like that, but I just see them putting these two close together and that would take care of that side of the park for decades to come. They may go outside the park but in all reality, SoA is a waste of space in of space in it's current form. It's good for Osborne lights but not much else, especially if they are trying to get rid of the whole working movie thing. Maybe muppets and all of that survives, but I just don't see it. Who knows though.

PhotoDave, I've forgotten my prediction already. Lol
I did say there was no way a Star Wars announcement would happen for DL and not for DHS and that people who were worrying that DL was going to get all the good stuff and WDW a bunch of spinners were being ridiculous.
I believe you about some wrong predictions but I just can't remember what they were.

I don't think Echo Lake is going anywhere. It makes no sense to get rid of the AI theater, 50s prime time and Hollywood & vine to build Star Wars. You need a transition from Hollywood blvd and Echo lake gives you that. Now I'm really worried on which direction they go...towards Indy and parking or towards muppets and lma. I hope it is towards Indy. I would hate to lose muppets. Plus there is a lot more space in that direction than just 14 acres. But I have no insider info. Just hoping something more is coming for the LMA area.

danlb_2000, yah you got me on that one, I was wrong. Happily wrong, but I was just going off of the program schedule, but Imwas right that Eiger would have to release any major. Star Wars news himself. I didn't see him on the parks and resorts schedule so it caused me to assume they were saving the release for a later date. I was wron but a liiiiittle bit right also. Lol ;-). You got me on that one!!

You get points in my book for admitting you were wrong and not trying to twist your words to make it look like you were right like some people would do. :)
