DHS Imagineering Field Guide

Was wondering if anyone has insight as to why this Field Guide has been delayed so long. It has gone way past it's initial release date. Amazon has it listed as being released July 27, 2010. What's with the delay? Could they holding off on publishing pending an announcement of DHS additions?

I have also be awaiting its release. I thought maybe it had a lot to do with the rebranding to Disney Hollywood Studios from MGM. When the books were first being released it was before the name change. I am wodering if they had to go back and re-edit, perhaps re-print the book causing this long delay.

Yes, I remember all of that. This extended delay just makes me suspicious. Could there be a big announcement coming for DHS that could be detailed in the Field Guide?

Waiting patiently.

I can't wait for this book to come out. My Disney Library has a spot already reserved for this treasure trove of Disney knowledge.

The publish date has been pushed back 2 times now??

I don't see how hard it would be to remove the hat and put a new cover on especially if they haven't printed the books yet.

Like I said, Amazon has it's release date as July 27, 2010.

I was thinking maybe a Monsters Inc coaster announcement prior to then?

Ew, gross. It's not even an image of actual blueprints. It's CG wireframe. :hurl:

The hat doesn't deserve blueprints, I guess.

Which Imagineer made that hat?

They should be terminated.

Yet another time where you speak before you know all the facts.

FYI, Eric Jacobson was the lead Imagineer for the BAH. He's a VERY high ranking Imagineer, and is the Senior Vice-President of Creative Development Walt Disney Imagineering. In plain english, Eric is one of Disney’s most senior Imagineering executives and he has strong ties to the origins of Disney's Hollywood Studios. Jacobson worked on projects ranging from Buzz Lightyear, the Great Movie Ride and Tower of Terror, and recently was involved with the additions and enhancements to Pirates of the Caribbean. Jacobson has had a career that spans over 30 years with Disney.

The BAH was meant to be temporary....Even he dislikes it, as he said on May 1st of this year.

Credit to Studios Central for my fact check.

Jacobson was told it was supposed to be temporary. He designed a temporary thing. That thing stayed.

If it was not meant to be temporary,it would most likely be in a different location, with a different type of design.

I would have had no problems with the BAH if it would have served its intended purpose: a temporary icon for "100 Years of Magic". Unlike "teh Wand", it's actually pretty cool and is a good symbol for Disney Animation/Magic. If it had left in 2002, I believe there would be less if not no venom towards it.

That being said, I think if you want to blame Imagineers, I'd blame the ones who designed the park to be one large hot mess, with no identifiable icon, and a terrible layout. I'm glad they learned their lesson with DAK.
