DHS CARS LAND

I still don't get how RSR doesn't fit Pixar Place.

Urgh Pixar, plus TDO were looking at how to change Radiator Springs to be like you were on the set of Cars(read cardboard). Anyway we heard long ago that JL didn't want it cloned domestically, plus we have heard everything ... bar Cars Land recently...

DHS has moved away from having the rides and attractions set up like "sets". That is no longer the direction of the park (see the most recent Star Wars refurb, all ties to being behind the scenes of a set were removed). Also, Cars never had a set since it was animated. I am not saying this won't happen, i'd just be shocked if that was the chosen direction.

Psst ... it was an option on the table so TDO didn't have to pay for all that rock work and keep Catastrophe Canyon in place so they could have flats. It was simply how to we cut costs and make the story fit that was the idea. Someone did mention that everything is still in play - one day they want it ... next day they want to do something different.

Think of it like DLP Studios how they make The Flying Carpets fit like it is on a film set with Genie as the director...think of it like that...

Ohhh. Gotcha. Well, I haven't been keeping up with this thread so thanks for filling me in.

My frustration is with people that keep acting like a cloned Carsland is inevitable. Here are a couple dots to connect. The RSR clone rumor was started by a contractor for Universal projects and it will not be allowed to die. Hmmmm.
The rumor was started by Cars Land being awesome and DHS needing help. There was a 55 gallon drum of gasoline thrown on the figurative fire by @whylightbulb, of course, but people would still be talking about it.

The set entrance at Star Tours is still there. The queue afterwards was always pretty much identical to Disneyland's.

Right on. My point was that whatever Carsland cost in Cali is not that important to the big picture. No doubt they could duplicate it at DHS but would it add value to TWDC? I contend that it would be counter-productive to clone it and they can get much more bang for their buck by doing something like you suggest above.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe he does work for both Disney and Universal, and probably other parks in the area.

No it's not. All that is left if the wooded area. The rest was all removed. Like after the wooded area, you'd go back and there would be spot lights, ply wood walls and set lots. All of that was removed. Or so I thought?

And it is unmitigated crap. One of the sadder areas of the world's worst theme park.

A cheap Cars Land would plunge DHS into Paris Studio territory, the only tourist destination in Europe less desireable than hiking in the Chernobyl forests.

And it still is!
Welcome to the board! Let me bid you hello with a right good cranky tirade. :)

Classic WDW had a quiet, empty walk to the Mansion. The story started in Liberty Square itself. You slowly walked away from civilisation, up the river valley, into the woods, wolves howling in the background...

Today, guests walking up to the Mansion are being hustled into buying Visa cards.

In a loud structure that destroys the careful architectural setting of a quiet New England fishing port. Placed awkwardly next to / in front of the closed structure that once housed an actual ride, the Keelboats.

There are dozens of such slow declines by degrees visible in any picture taken anywhere in the MK, with only a few improvements. For example, in the background, the closed Aunt Polly's. Which has a new, ugly, non-period fence in front of it. Etc.

It's Card Board Cars Land baby! Welcome to the horror that is Disney Paris! There are cheap Disney knock-off parks in North Korea that look better than this.
Heaven forbid they value engineer any DHS expansion.

You do get an excellent photo opportunity of your kids with their favourite Cars cars!!

...except...you don't! They put a big fence around Tow Mater and McQueen!

DCA gets CL and BVS. UNI gets Potter.

WDW gets Circusland and theme-destroying cartoon bathrooms. Paris gets the vomit-inducing Toy Story Playland. So shockingly bad and misguided it is not even a cheesy parody of a Disney park anymore.

Oh my gosh, that's so sad! I thought people were exaggerating when people said WDSP was so terrible... It's actually true. The Cars attraction is so pathetic... I can't believe that.
