So @21stamps back on topic, here is the tent I am going to buy next. I gave away our REI tent to a nephew and since I can't decide on a camper, we are going to need another tent. I have done research and this is the one for us. Scroll down the page and check out the video of how easy this thing is to set up and take down. It will be just right for us, though a little big and bulky, but that is OK, as it is not made for hiking and camping, but more car camping. Our car has a back seat that folds down, so even though it is long, we should be able to put it in the trunk and stick it through to the back seat. This might work for you if you have room to transport it to the campsite in your car.

Oh I like that!!! T sits in back but the other half folds down to give us more room.. I’d have to measure to see if it fit.
Thinking of cabins and SUVs.. I wanted to share these photos, the one time when I debated switching to SUV permanently
These are from Carter Caves where I posted photos yesterday.
When we arrived it looked like this-
Later on we were looking at this-
I went to put wood in the fireplace below (cabin provided wood)..
No kindling!!!!!!!!!
Called the lodge- received a message that the entire park would be closed for the next two days.
I went to my car and the only thing I had was T’s art papers from school in a binder in the trunk. We agreed that we should use them to try to get the fire started.
This is the largest flame that we got. Lasted a whopping 1 minute max.
Turned the heat up and played games until bedtime.
The next day the roads were not drivable and as I said, all facilities were closed. We had planned on eating breakfast at the lodge. Instead, we ate left over pizza for breakfast.
The rest of the day we ate snacks, and more pizza. Ventured outside to play in the snow..
The next morning we were almost out of fruit, snacks, and beverages. Lodge was still not open, but I knew we had to go find food in town.
Main Roads were at least somewhat cleared now.. but we saw this before we even got out of the park..
I gripped the steering wheel so tightly while driving 30 minutes to civilization. And by civilization, I mean one restaurant and one gas station exists in this town.
Lessons learned that weekend- Always plan to be snowed in when taking a trip in the hills during the winter.
NEVER rent a cabin if it does not have a gas fireplace.
Only take an AWD vehicle on such a trip.
