We don't know if we are getting DL'S MSEP or PTN??
(no inside sources) But we are not getting MSEP.

Maybe maybe PTN. But I'd go for a brand new nighttime parade, especially since they could've brought PTN over in the late spring to boost summer attendance numbers. There's also the case that they felt it would be silly to do that since it would basically be out of commission for the majority of August - December.

You can see the "re-imagining of a Disney classic" line being trotted out again for a newer version of MSEP. Even if I'd rather they did that for Spectromagic

I also wonder if when they address the new EPCOT show for a little fan service (even if personally I can't see it), they bring back the IllumiNations prefix and end up with IllumiNations: Global Wonders or such like.

Until 2024...
  1. when D+ is in the black
  2. and TWDC fully owns Hulu,
  3. and dividends are back being issued...
I can't imagine there will be any big, new projects started.

(Not to mention their tentpole movies have costs under control, and the two strikes are settled...)

We've heard of their Blue Sky plans of what they're thinking of, but, they currently don't have the money for it. Maybe we'll here more of their Blue Sky plans, but I can't imagine announcing a start date for giant new projects until the above conditions are met.

I agree. I don't think we see meaningful movement on new major projects until Q1 FY 2025. With a lot of it seeing the public reveal at D23 2024. Most of the projects will receive approvals and budgeting next Spring/Sumemr though, even though the money doesn't really flow until October.

Parades or shows on the other hand are marketing spends and totally viable if they want something fast and 'cheap' that won't make the street too fussed. Though the light parade hope springs eternal.

Though nothing prevents WDI from being scaled up in the interim and these projects being prepared.

Things I expect
Disneyland- tarzans tree house news
Epcot- update and opening date of moana
Epcot- update of the spine
Epcot- date and drawings maybe some video of what they expect the night time show to look like
MK- updates on tiana
Hollywood studios-something new that has to do with the indiana jones or star tours area (this is a guess completely) (with no date)
Animal kingdom- something new going into dino land. (with no date)

Talk of the new cruise ship, some new run disney (mostly california).. btw why not have run disney in other states and use it as a cash cow.

Some huge ideas that are blue sky because that worked so great last time.
I think they have to announce something opening at EPCOT for the 100 kick off on Oct. 1.

Do they though? I would rather them just be quiet than announce an attraction they will not actually greenlight or build...There has been far too much of that lately regarding EPCOT. All of the parks could use more rides, and shuttering attractions over the years has been a problem. They need to figure out how to open every attraction that is sitting dormant, and then add some additional attractions that are not replacements... the number of attractions needs to go up... not remain the same or backwards.

They still haven’t announced the presentation schedule yet? I hope whatever the presentation will be involving the parks is lived streamed. I know this isn’t the expo where there’s a big parks and resorts presentation.

Just recorded a podcast with a well known guest. He seems pretty confident we'll get some news before Destination D23 and he feels we'll get some good news from this panel (paraphrasing: what's the point of these expos if we don't).
  • Join Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro as he hosts a fun and entertaining presentation about what makes a Disney experience so magical and memorable for guests and fans around the world.
ETA - Most likely about DAK plans is the leading theory...

Wonder if anything will get cut with recent concerns of masks returning in some places & another covid variant wave.

Hopefully DAK, Epcots nighttime show and a MK light parade. But I’m guessing the latter is very fluid and unlikely.

Is there any idea yet what day or time this panel will be and if it will be live streamed?

I feel like 30 years from now someone will still be making Covid excuses for this company.

I do get the sense that the overall wellness of TWDC ($Dis) is holding the parks back. There are company initiatives to cost cutting everywhere and that did start with Covid.

While the parks are still profitable, the rest of the company is in bad shape.

Then why is Disney still holding onto ABC/ABC News?????? Let the Network go off on its own! It might help the Parks!!!

I’m hoping we get something good out of this, how likely do we actually think something of substance comes out of Destination D23 regarding parks.

Right now I’m leaning 40/60 that’s 40% we get something. 60% we get nothing of substance at least at this event.

We'll probably get some announcements - at the absolute minimum details of the new Epcot show. Seems likely we'll get some news about a light parade if one is happening.

I'm less convinced we'd hear anything about any new rides/attractions/lands. some are suggesting perhaps stuff about DAK but generally Destination D23 hasn't been used for that sort of stuff and so until it does I'm skeptical.
