Despicable Me Soft Open?

Pre-show is great--not Potter levels (what is?), but still a lot of details to catch. The team members working the line are having a lot of fun. The ride itself is basically an overlay of Jimmy Nuetron, although the screens look sharper. Nothing you've never seen before, but a well-done C or D-ticket.

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but the gift shop is all custome merchandise, including the stuffed unicorn from the movies.

Wait Harry Potter still doesn't use the express pass?

Nope, and if RockIt is any indication, don't expect it for a few more years.

As for Minion Mayhem, I got to ride it today and it was an absolute blast from getting in line to getting off the ride. The queue TV display is cute, although you start to catch on that the answer to every trivia question is C (and the most ridiculous answer). The two pre show rooms are very well executed, as are the videos. I know its standard, but I had to chuckle at the plastic oval covering the Sharp logo on the gigantic display in the first pre-show room where you get your glasses and are assigned a row.

Anyway, the pre-shows are funny and cute (seriously, if you can't laugh at the Minions and general humor of the movie, and thus the ride, you're cold), and the ride was surprisingly much more entertaining than Jimmy Neutron was. The exit is pretty fun as well, and they evidently staff it with Minions during the day and people will actually stay and dance with them as they come off the ride. If they would have had Boogie Robots I would have stayed, but I was ready to get out of the park.

Final verdict: Very, very solid C or D attraction, and you really should give it a shot the next time you visit the park. It is fun, funny, and who doesn't love the Minions!?

know its standard, but I had to chuckle at the plastic oval covering the Vizio logo on the gigantic display in the first pre-show room where you get your glasses and are assigned a row. I'm surprised Vizio didn't pay to keep their logo visible for marketing purposes, because the picture was amazingly crisp and if I didn't know that unmistakeable V shape beneath the Vizio wording, I probably would have assumed it was a custom display from the usual high-end of Mitsubishi/Samsung/etc and not the "cheap" Vizio brand.
That's actually a Sharp 80" LED set in the first pre-show. ;) I don't think Vizio has the ability to match that kind of quality, LOL!
