Johnny Depp got offered the role as Willy Wonka.

Yes and I think he will surpass Gene Wilder in the role! Gene was just too nice, Johnny will be a real villian and then nice. Depp has depth.

I can see Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka in an odd way, but I can't really compare it to Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. It will be totally different. I prefer to think of Johnny as Jack or Ichabod. But this will be exciting to see.

I just watched Johnny on Jay Leno. It was the highlight of my week. Or maybe even month.
