Dental Care during the CP

Hey guys!

My brother is currently on the CP until August, and is working at POR in the food court. When he arrived, they told him he had to go change his braces so they could be clear. $200

Anyway, that same orthodontist said he/she doesn't take transfers to help my brother continue his treatment up there.

Does anyone know of an orthodontist who would take a transfer for a few months. The last resort option is for him to come all the way down here once a month or so, but we'd rather explore every option first.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

I would've questioned the fact that they required him to get an entirely different set of braces in order to work there.

Can they actually require you to have clear braces? Facial piercing I could understand, it's gross for most guests plus it could fall into the food. But a piece of medical equipment?

That's what they told him

He needed to have them clear, much in the same way that he had to be clean-shaven and all that. And he forked over $200 for it.

What surprised me is that same doctor won't take him for the few months to help him continue his treatment for the braces.

So yeah, if anyone can help out, it'd be great :D

The money was to change the braces, but she won't take him on as a regular patient.
That would be the correct answer. My brother went there because they sent him there, but as far as a short-term patient, they won't take him. They just did this one service because I guess they were told to

I just looked in my Cast Discount book to see if there were any Orthodontists listed and there weren't. There were dentists listed so I'd suggest that he call these Dentists and ask if they recomend anyone or just start calling Orthodontists in the area. I've texted my friend who just returned from the program who has braces about it but haven't heard back.

Instead of clear braces, are you sure they don't mean clear rubber bands on the braces? Most people with braces get colored rubber bands on the bracketts, but you can get clear also. That's probably what Disney means.

Yeah that's what I meant.

But $200 is still ridiculous.

He should contact his orthodondist at home and ask for some recommendations. Very often specialists will do a small "favor" for another specialists patient. I work for an oral surgery group and almost weekly we see another doctor's patient that had work done out of town. Mostly college students that went home for surgery, then returned to school and started having problems. 90% of the time, we see these patients as a professional courtesy.
Your brother may be able to get a wire clipped or a band changed as a courtesy, but probably not tightening, etc..

Tried that. He talked to his orthodontist about it. Basically, the guy told him he NEEDS to see HIM for treatment.

Meh, my brother is planning on taking a couple of days off next month and taking a Greyhound down.

If he had the braces on when he first interviewed, and I assume he did, you would have thought the rep would have mentioned it to him then, rather than surprise him with it when we started working at WDW.
