Decision Time (almost)

In 2009 we will be doing a bit of a multi-centre holiday, stopping at San Francisco, LA and Las Vegas. Obviously we will be going to Disneyland for a few days and I'm pretty excited about this because it's another disney park for me to explore (adding to DLP and WDW).

On to the real question - what to do in 2010? Assuming finances aren't a problem, do we visit WDW again or visit Tokyo and its DisneyLand? I

I know that Tokyo (the city) will be amazing and the Disney Parks there are something else but I think I would miss all the additional 'Disney' activities which you don't get anywhere but WDW. My Wife is also vegetarian which may make Tokyo quite difficult (on top of the language barrier that is).

So, cast your vote. WDW or Tokyo?

My plan (not that I really see it happening) is to be able to visit all Disney parks at least once. It sounds like WDW is something that would more likely happen then TDL. So why not go for TDL knowing that WDW is more of a "fallback" option?

If you have the means and oportunity, go to Tokyo. LIke MattyFresh, my goal is to go each Disney park around the world. If you can go to Tokyo, GO!

How about a Disney cruise? We did a 3-night land/4-night sea package last year and in February 2009 will go on a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise (preceded by a week at WDW). But I am totally smitten with the cruise idea and can hardly wait for the next one!

Thanks for the advice,

I'm not too keen on the cruise idea though - I'm sure it will be fantastic but it's not really my idea of a vacation. I don't like the idea of being 'stuck' on a boat for a majority of the trip (no matter how large the ship is).

I'm still very tempted to head over to Tokyo. I love Japanese culture and I've wanted to see Disney Sea's since I first heard of it. I had a great conversation with a CM in 'One Mans Dream' about it too which made me want to go even more.

I, like many of you, want to see each Disney Park around the world. If I get to Tokyo in 2010 then I only have Hong Kong left!!!

The thing that puts me off Tokyo is the language barrier - a fairly childish thing to be worried about? I've visited lot's of non-english speaking countries before without a problem although at least I could kind of work out what the signs mean!

I voted for Tokyo. I don't think the language barrier in the parks will be an issue, just the city. Most major hotels have english speaking staff so that will ease the burden some too.

If I had the opportunity to go to Tokyo I definitely would! If you are that worried about the language and your wife's dietary needs I may have an idea for you. When I was in high school I was lucky enough to go to Europe twice through the school. Two of the kids I went with (twins) were SEVERELY allergic to dairy products. They had a note laminated in each language needed explaining their restrictions to show to the waiter/waitress in restaurants. It seemed to work pretty well, and they never had a problem.

I hope that helps! You can always fall back on WDW if TDL doesn't work out. Have a great time where ever you wind up!

Definitely Tokyo.

Also, you're wrong about being trapped on a cruise. By the time you get on the first day, eat, explore the ship, etc. it's time for dinner. The second day you are in port by like 8a and off the ship doing tours, beach etc. on the third day, you're back already from the 3 day cruise and if you go on the four day one the third day is spent on their private island which has plenty of stuff to do on it or even if you stay on board there are things to do, there is an adult on beach section and they have a nice small spa over there. You'd be surprised how much there is to do and so little time. Oh, and the shows on board are fantastic which I can't say that about other cruise lines, it's not the same old same old.

Thats a pretty good idea. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with a few phrases which will help us get by. I guess I'm worrying about nothing really - plenty of people go there without a problem.

Definitely Tokyo.

I know I'm probably wrong. My dad's been on a few cruses recently and really enjoyed it but I think my real problem is with the seeming lack of fexibility (i.e. day 1 you go here, day 2 you go here). Whilst I like to plan my holidays, I don't really like a set schedule. In reality it probably wouldn't bother me as there would be a lot to see and do but it's not my type of holiday.

IMO I think you should go to Tokyo. For me my goal is to go to all of the Disney parks. It would be a great experience, you would get to see the other side of the world and the Japanese culture.
