December 5 - 12 - Madness?!??

So, today, I've received 2 pin codes from Disney - one via email and one via snail mail for 40% off of any resort (including Values!) for dates 11/28–12/4/10 • 12/12–12/18/10 - which are dates BEFORE or AFTER our trip December 4 - 11. :brick:

So does this mean that the week we are there - December 4 - 11 is going to be madness???

Or does it simply mean that they know all the All Stars will be filled with the Pop Warner kids and they just don't want to offer those folks (who will come with OR without the discount - who wouldn't - I'd take my kids to a championship at Disney any day!) who are coming either way a nice, fat 40% discount on their hotel?

Help?

PS - I realize that the Pop Warner kids can be a force to reckon with, I'm not debating that, I just don't want to be in the middle of a Christmas Day/ holiday weekend size crowd of people. Cheerleaders or not.

I could be wrong, but I swear Disney did something like this last year as well. I kept watching the deals for December 2009 to see what we might expect for 2010 - since we're going Dec 7-13. I recall seeing deals for just before and just after our dates. I hope this pin thing isn't a sign that there are no deals to come for our dates.

Well, actually, I probably shouldn't be too "doomsday-ish" about it because I *did* receive a pin code for our dates that was "kids stay & play free."

But that was about a month ago, and now all of the sudden our dates have disappeared from the pin codes? Just makes me a little worried..... :)

We haven't even seen any pin codes. I don't know if it's b/c we booked through a travel agent, if it's b/c we booked a pkg vs. room only, if it's the dates of our trip, if it's the hotel we chose, or what. We've been booked since Sept 2009, so I figured we'd see something by now if they were to send us pin codes.

We're going the 4th-14th, and have been going that same week (within a day or 2) for the last 5 years. This past year it was a little more crowded than previous years. I'm hoping that because of the way the month falls that it might be slightly less crowded this year.

We got a pin code for the water parks and more/ photo package add on. One of them was good for our time. Fortunately we booked a bounceback last year. Inevitably the dates do fall within one discount or another, though not usually the GP I don't think (probably for the Pop Warner reason).

You are blowing this way out of proportion. Pop Warner is mostly felt at the resorts (mostly All-Stars, with some overflow to Port Orleans, usually). The affect on the parks is minimal, as the teams spend most of their time at the sporting events at WWoS.

From my experience, the foreign tour groups have more of an effect on the parks than Pop Warner does.

This also was the time frame when Mousefest and all of its activities would happen, who knows if that will return...again - minimal effect on parks.

I created an account at WDW's website and made sure that the multiple "please spam me" checkboxes were all checked. It appears to be random -- I didn't get a good (40% off) PIN code until just recently despite creating my account several months ago, yet my folks got theirs within days of creating their account.

There really is no rhyme or reason to the pin codes it seems, but I will say this: I "mess around" with my disneyworld.com account all the time (because honestly, any time I *think* we might be headed to the beach, I *think* we might have the time to squeeze in a day or two at WDW) so I save "prospective" trips and it seems like I'm always getting pin codes for those dates.

I have no idea if this works or not, but it "seems" to be working for me!

Here's to December 5 - 12! :xmas:

so...after all my whining...I got my pin code in the mail...and just like the other posters- mine does not apply for my dates. I'm also wondering if it's room only. I'm not all too concerned about crowds- I just wouldn't mind saving some $$$.

I'd hope it would be that. The same way that they charge more for Marathon weekend nights. They know that people will stay on site, so why give em discounts?

That was the only time we could go down, so I am really hoping it's that. Let Pop warner take up as many hotel rooms as they want, just stay out of the parks please....
