When i look at these nice photos, why does the song lyrics *they paved paradise, and put up a parking lot* come into my head..?

I think the big problem with FC is that tourism development WEST of WDW has almost completely halted. When you look at OCC rates for hotels in Orlando Metro, Orlando West (I-Drive), LBV, Kissimmee, 192

The lagers month after month, quarter after quarter and now year after year is Kissimmee and 192. No one wants to stay WEST of Disney anymore. Everyone if they are not staying on Disney property want to be in between Disney and Universal Studios. Even Orlando Metro hotel are doing much better business than 192 and Kissimmee.

Hotels on 192 have started calling themselves Lake Buena Vista South in order to make themselves sound like they are closer to WDW.

I don't blame them. It is the least desireable area that is still close to WDW (it being that west 192 down to 27, Clermont, Four Corners, Davenport corridor). The only time I've stayed on 192 west in a decade was in 2011 when I stayed at Orange Lake. Even with all the over-building, it still feels like the hicks.

I just remember all the big promises that the Western Beltway promised... Giant Resort projects, and the beautiful cities of Reunion and Independence... Now homes in Reunion look like a butt of a joke, and Independence is falling apart and riddled with crime.

Independence is falling apart and riddled with crime? I don't live too far from there and haven't heard about lots of crime in the area (Windermere). There has been a lot of new building going on in there as well, million dollar homes from what I can see. As a nearby and concerned resident, could you point me in the direction of some news articles etc speaking to the increased crime?

The problem is, is that there is almost no police response out there in Independence. Because there is no police force that reports data to CrimeReports[dot]com I cannot give you any statistics besides what I know from people who actually live in Independence and Real Estate AgentsI have spoken to about housing out there, and physically seeing the properties.

The homes have stucco that is cracked and falling off the buildings, the communities have barely kept up maintenance of public areas, and a lot of the homes have become rentals with tenants that seem not to take pride in their housing.

Poorly maintained communities overrun with rentals are unfortunately a problem throughout central Florida.

As a cast member and local resident, I'm concerned to hear that the crime is so bad so close to the cast parking at MK. I suppose its only a matter of time before there is a problem there. Though I suppose most criminals know that we're all pretty much broke lol. I'll have to ask around to find out more about the crime in the area, i thought I was pretty well informed, but apparently not.

That apartment Complex right behind the Magic Kingdom for years has been a crime hot spot, with drug issues, and a few actual murders there.

I knew about the crime across the street but had heard that it was mostly targeted and petty crime due to being HUD subsidized housing. I wasn't aware of any murders. I thought they had cleaned the property up in the past few years- guess it was just a coat of paint afte rall. Well you learn something new everyday, guess I'll be looking over my shoulder a lot more on those 1 and 2 am park close nights.

I personally wouldn't worry on property.
