i heard some talk while i was working at DAK, that they were hoping to finish the park with the 2 other lands that they never got to by the time of its 10th anniversary. but as much as i would love that to happen i just don't think it to be realistically possible at all. plus i also heard that they werent going to add the mythical creatures land at all. but when i would ride everest i would turn around and see some construction going on...it probably itsnt related at all but i dont really know. so if anyone could fill me in that knows more that would be great.

Nothing is confirmed or in the "strongly suggested rumors" category for DAK at all right now. Beastlie Kingdomme (mythical creatures) was originally planned for the park and was very close to being put into action, but last-minute budget cuts left Camp Minnie-Mickey in its place. Plenty of room in that area exists for expansion, but seems relatively untouched right now. Behind Everest, there is talk of Australia or some other expansion, and much ground-clearing has been completed, but right now no semi-public rumors seem to be getting started. With the recent addition of Everest, another E-ticket in time for the parks 10th anniversary seems unlikely.

The ground you are speaking of was cleared before the park opened. Rumor was that Kali was severely downsized and had it been built as conceived it would have covered most of that cleared land.

I to do not see any conceivable way that 2 lands could be completed in less that a years time unless they were done 6-flags style and even then a year would be a tight timetable.

one thing i heard about australia was that they ould have a kilamanjaro safari type attraction but it would be more like a walkabout out in the outback...where you would get to walk right through the "outback" next to kangaroos and the like. but i just don't see how that could really happen...the way i heard it because the person i heard it from didn't mention any protection for the animals or the guest

Joe Rohde is working on a new DAK project. Very possibly related to dragons. The old beastly kingdom idea is dead but good ideas never die at Imagineering. A fantasy/dragon attraction/land is still a potential future attraction...Joe even said it during a cast member seminar last year.

hopefully its dragon related because it can be difficult to explain to guest why theres a dragon on the symbol but no dragons in the park lol

Future AK

To me AK will not be complete until it has a South America, a North America, an Australia and a Polar "Land" with animals from both polar regions (of course "polar land" would have to be entirely indoors). And I believe it will have all these lands someday but that will take a lot of time to do right. I think it will expand over the next 10 years and then it will start to be a "complete" park. Of course, as we know, none of the parks will ever be finished. AK has the most exiting future of all the parks at WDW IMHO. It will be fun to watch as the future of this great park is revealed.

I agree AK has the most exciting future. I like to imagine all the wonderful things they could do with AK but I guess we'll have to wait and see what the future holds for that park...

Well, Camp Minnie-Mickey represents North America and DinoLand USA is well...it's in the name

I do know what you mean though...it should be broken up into continents...and if you do that...you have Africa, Asia, build Australia, convert Camp Minnie-Mickey into a true North America with bears, raccoons, moose, etc... Dinoland needs to stay, remove the "USA" tag...and base it on all things extinct. Europe could be dedicated to the mythological creatures...and the Arctic could be a small miniland.

I agree with these ideas. A Europe/mythical land should be between Africa and Asia. If they're worried about the transition between Africa and Asia, they can make the path to Europe a little more subtle, and replace part of Rafiki's planet watch with a Europe themed area, just pushed back a little further. Thi should be where Dragons, Griffins, Unicorns, etc should be located. There aren't too many noteworthy European animals that would be real crowd pleasers, but some incarnation of Beastly Kingdom would be welcomed.

I completely agree that Dinoland USA should be renamed Dinoland. The USA serves no function, and real limits what should be in that land, especially considering that during the time of the Dinosaurs, the USA didn't exactly exist. I'd love to see the removal of Dino-Rama, or at least enclosing Primevil Whirl and adding a few more effects. If they don't do this, it should be removed for an Australia area that will include the Finding Nemo show.

Camp Minnie Mickey and the cleared land near it should be changed to a North America and South America area.

Wow that's alot of land cleared just for the old Kali ride layout that was downsized. I mean it looks to me like it was cleared for another land...I sure hope it is but I guess we will just have to wait and see. AK is my least favorite park only because there isn't alot to do, it does have my favorite ride EE but still lacks alot of disney type things.

At Detroit's zoo, in the Outback section, there is a trail that you walk down right through where the Kangaroos are at. There are no fences that shield you from the animals or they from you. They can walk right across the trail in front of you if they wanted to. When I was there they were no more then 30 or 40 ft away from us. The person who was working there said that they for the most part don't come by the trail when people are walking, but there was one kangaroo there that had been rescued and was mainly raised by one of the workers there. She said that this kangaroo loves people and will come by the trail most of the time. I thought it was pretty interesting. So it can indeed be done.
I am not an expert on the animal, but there must be some reason that this is allowed for Kangaroos.

And also right here in Detroit in the middle of the summer, their zoo has an Artic Circle section, that has Polar Bears, seals, and penguins outside in the open. They are surrounded by iced surfaces and water, but just this summer I saw Polar Bear hanging out in the grass and not on the iced surfaces in 80 degree weather. So I don't think it would necessarily have to be all indoors, tho it might help!

The Cleveland Zoo has a similar attraction, where there are the smaller version of the kangaroo (it has a specific name, but is the same family...sorry cant remember), and you can literally get as close as the animal feels comfortable with. They seem very docile, so...i dont know...

WALLABY...thats what they are...sorry, just came to me

Yes Wallaby, they had those along the trail as well, but also regular Kangaroos. I think I have a pic, I will have to find it. :)

i love AK!!! There may not be as many rides as the other parks, but what I find AK does best is transport's the guest into another world (well not another world, but another part of this world). My girlfriend has been to both Asia and Africa many times and she said that the feeling in the parks is really authentic. The moment I stepped through the gates it just felt like the place was surrounded in a really magical aura, if you will.

I also think that Dinosaur is the future of dark rides simply because you actually feel like you're gunning around in a off-road vehicle and not on some monotonous path. What i'd love to see for dinoland is something similar to that scene in the first Jurrassic park movie where they walk right up to the dino's. Imagine KSafari but w/ gentle dino's?

If they ever do make a Beastlie Kingdom, I'd love to see a dragon ride similar to Soarin, but you fly through a magical kingdom seeing all sorts of mythical beasts!

It is quite a bit of land. From what rumors have been floating around the internet the original Kali concept was to be around double the size of what was actually built with multiple drops and live animals. It still leaves quite a bit of land left over so I m thinking Kali's location might have also been modified to its current location due to its reduced size.

Oh wow that sounds like an awesome ride...wish they had went through with the original kali concept. I find that kali isn't exciting but I still ride it so I don't know why I'm complaining haha.
