:brick: The D23 segregation begins. I may be one of the biggest Disney fans but I just don't see myself paying extra for anything they offer. That's just me. I suppose it's good news for anyone who's already a member though, with it being free, which it SHOULD be.

EDIT: Okay, I admit the Archives Tour sounds really interesting but since it's only two days, it'd be lucky if anyone got in, if the limit isn't filled already.

They announced a bunch of special "events" for D23 Members today:

D23's Flowers and Fireworks Celebration at Epcot: May 31, 2009
D23's Supercalifragilistic Night on Broadway: Wednesday, June 24, 2009
D23 and Poppins Breeze into The Windy City: Wednesday, June 24, 2009
D23 and The Lion King Roar in Vegas: Saturday, June 27, 2009
D23 Day at the Walt Disney Studios and Archives: June 27, 2009 and August 15, 2009
D23 presents DISNEYLAND, U.S.A.: July 17, 2009
Walt Disney Family Museum Preview: September, 2009

Even though they announced some outside of CA, they still announced three new ones in CA. I really wish I could go to the Disneyland 54th Anniversary to see Imagineer Tony Baxter. The free 2 hour tour of the archives doesn't sound bad either. If only I lived out there...

It's absolutely FREE!*

(*After large membership Fee)

Yeah, but we're also getting every issue of the magazine. So the difference of the membership price ($74.99) and the price for all the issues ($63.80) would certainly cover these events. (if you wanted all the issues, that is)

I'll probably buy the magazines second-hand cheap on ebay someday if there were actually any good articles in it and save myself the overhead cost. (Sorry for the negativity, but I really need to be convinced why I should bother investing in this.:veryconfu)

Right, some of us could care less, so that whole argument isn't valid...:dazzle:

But, this is a step... baby steps toward what 23 should have been right from the announcement. However, one event in WDW (announced 3 weeks in advance) is only good for locals anyway. If I was 23 and if I were free that day, I would go. However, I'm not 23 and I'm still not spending $75 for one perk. (Plus, in reality, it would be $160 since there are 2 of us.)

Or the fan base should have more faith in the company they have both grown to love and hate with a passion.

The more events like this that pop up, the less valid the arguement of, "they should have done this at the start" will be.

Wow, that is expensive. And with park admission on top of that! Granted I work in the parks so I wouldn't have to worry about the second half but still...

Trust me, I still love the parks. Animation dept still needs some help which they will hopefully receive soon with 2D back. I just can't stand Disney corporate nowadays, that's all.:D

they may do more tours.. it does say 2 for the summer season.. maybe they will do one in the fall, a few in the winter and spring.

:lookaroun all the events currently listed allow one guest, so only 1 membership per 2 people is really required, but you still need to pay admission to the park if you both didnt have APs...

Interesting...They are moving in the right direction. Admitedly, it's a nice perk, but it's still not enough. What about the OTHER D23 Members that can't make it.

Until this offers something that wows everyone, I still look at it jadedly.

I saw that, but overall to get most of the free ($75) perks, we would both have to be members.

Geez, D23 just can't win! First you say that they should do some more events, then you complain about segregation! Ugh. In a perfect world, we'd all get to go w/o membership, but these perks are exactly to justify the already reasonable (for most) price of membership. Now, who wants to forget about all of this and eat pie?

PIE! Yummy.

(And just to speak my opinion. I, for one, never said anything about having more events. I think it's good that they've added all these since D23 is already done and created, they owe the fans at least that. I just think it'd be a better idea if places like WDS and the Archive are open to the general public and charge people for the tour, instead of a cover cost. Sort of like they did with the Backstage Magic tour of Imagineering with Adv by Disney.)

Actually, the more events like this that pop up, the more obvious it will be that Disney knows they should have done this from the start.
