Let’s hope this understanding is the reason most of the stuff in the parks display is from the Asian parks: they were holding off on WDW and DL for today. If they endlessly talk about TDL, SDL, and HKDL, I’ll be rather disappointed. Host an event in Asia for those fans. No one in CA cares. Don’t really care that WDSP is getting a huge Woody, either.

A lot has to do with Epic Universe. Many are thinking there has to be a response to Epic Universe.

If there was a huge announcement we would know about it by now. When is the last time Disney was able to keep a major project completely under wraps until they decided to reveal it? This forum always has a lead on major announcements to some extent and it’s been completely quiet around here.

There is some posters who think they need to announce something big due to Epic Universe. I personally don't think anything is coming. TBH announcing things that were paused due to Covid isn't that impressive.

I was taking one of my patented 40 minute showers tonight and this wild idea came into my head about tomorrow's announcements.

First to back track, I had heard somewhere recently that they were thinking of adding a new MK resort that actually connected to MK, similar to Grand Californian in Disneyland. This would connect somewhere in Frontierland.

Second, I had also heard Bobby was looking to make a big splash, something to put him in the Disney history books.

Third, we have had very, VERY few rumors or leaks. Suspiciously few.

My prediction is that the announcement is not a 5th gate but a very large expansion to MK which includes a new resort with direct access to the park. In a way, this makes a lot of sense. MK is merchandise and restaurant heavy so getting capacity up would line their pockets. It would also steal thunder from Epic Universe.

I think you are far off. You mention Merchandise heavy, but I came back from WDW on Wednesday. That trip was my first for WDW since 2019 and there was less merchandise then it was in 2019. There also were shops closed in WDW including Magic Kingdom and I'm guessing haven't been opened since the pandemic.

Personally I don't see anything big announced for WDW. Disneyland is getting something Marvel E ticket related connected to multiverse. I expect oversea announcements.

I expect Tron opening date announcement, Epcot being talked about, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Fantasmic opening date and information that new upcoming DVC at Polynesian for WDW.

To be honest, if that's all they announce after a 3-4 year hiatus it is going to look REAL bad on Disney. Shareholders will also be concerned that WDW leadership isn't up to the task of taking on Universals growing threat.

You have look at not all shareholders are theme park fans. They only care about bottom-line. The other thing is Disney usually caters to different age group than Universal for theme parks to a point from a traditional sense.

To top it off, Disney Management wants less guests at WDW because of operating coasts in terms of employees in a theme park. There also is Disney believe they can make the same money now at WDW without as money guests. If Disney loses 1 or 2 million guests to Epic Universe, it would be small change if the profits don't get worse.
