D23 announcements?

Here's my hunches...
With SW movie around the corner - another trailer and D23 will be SW heavy. News: Star Wars attractions and special events at parks but a dedicated SW land at DHS.
Avatar update with a bit more specifics (visuals) on attractions and shows.
Tons of announcements on the plethora of live action remakes.

I would expect more details on Rivers of Light and Avatar. Presumably something on Star Wars. Maybe some surprises.

From the WDW side, I expect more details in terms of the Frozen attraction in Epcot, Rivers and Light, and Avatar. I think something is going to be announced with Star Wars, but it is for Disneyland and DHS. I am guessing more Pixar stuff getting announced for DHS, but I also could see them wait after the 3rd Toy Story Midway Mania track is completed.

For sure there will be updates on projects we know are happening- details on the Frozen attraction, Avatar, Rivers of Light, etc.
They may also confirm stuff we pretty much know to be happening- Soarin over the World and Pixar expansion.
The "big one" would be a Star Wars announcement, which I guess is likely.

Probably less than people expect. Disney has not really positioned the D23 Expo as the place for big announcements to be made. The focus has been more on history and previously announced projects.

Although nothing has been really announced around or since the last D23 anyways. I think that was also a case of not actually having anything to talk about, because there was nothing! It will be interesting to see what they choose to do now that they actually have things to talk about.
A few things that would seem likely (although we know that is not always the case with Disney)...
1. Shanghai Disney Land will probably be on prominent display. It's the only thing really opening between D23 2015 and 2017.
2. Star Wars will definitely make an appearance, but perhaps not as much detail as people really want to hear. Hopefully slightly more than "it is coming to DHS and DL".
3. Avatar will definitely get a solid nod this time now that the behind the scenes drama has mostly subsided.
4. Frozen...
Things that should be there, but may be completely ignored
1. Marvel at DCA (technically speaking this project sounds like it would occur before Star Wars... but who knows if they will actually pull the trigger).
2. DHS re-do (this could be a topic they completely ignore, or it could be the major splashy WDW announcement).
3. HKDL and DLRP... I have a feeling neither will be mentioned.
And Tokyo should definitely not be there with their own D23 this year again.

- Avatar Land revealed a bit more with graphics/models we haven't seen yet, saddled with meaningless quotes from a charmless James Cameron
- Frozen Attraction in Norway Pavilion revealed with graphics/models we haven't seen yet
- New Luigi's Attraction in Cars Land revealed with graphics/models we haven't seen yet
- Announcing whatever they are doing with Disneyland's Innoventions building which has been mysteriously closed and walled off for a month now...
A Definite Maybe....
- Perky details from Steve Davison including graphics/models we haven't seen before about Rivers Of Light at DAK
- Marvel Land at DCA announced with graphics/models that prove Al Lutz at MiceAge knew what he was talking about
- A full park-wide Remake and Relaunch of DHS like what DCA got circa 2009-12, including a new name
- An impressive new Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland and/or DHS by the end of this decade

My family always jokes that to make them super interactive the characters hands you paper towels to help you dry your hands and that this is a meet and greet fast pass plus bathroom experience.

I'm torn, there is so much that already needs to be addressed that looks like is going to happen besides Star Wars. I have a feeling Star Wars will have a huge presence, but nothing but hinting/teasing for WDW.

I'm going to predict that they will announce SW for Disneyland.
They will hint and tease at any WDW expansion, but nothing substantial.
Lots of hype but nothing that will make folks around here excited.

I'm probably in the extreme minority, and know all rumors are pointing to a Star Wars land at both Disneyland and DHS, but personally I hope SW ends up primarily at DHS, Disneyland is too busy already, even the slow season isn't slow anymore, if they replace Toon town with a full Star Wars land it's going to be unbearable. I'd love a new ride like a speeder bike coaster near the speedway but I don't think Disneyland can absorb all the guests that a full Star Wars land would attract. I'd rather they save it for a future 3rd gate then shoehorn it into an already packed park, plus it would give me another reason to travel to WDW every few years.

yes and its not like there have been so many D23's that we can say what they will do....this year feels a little different to me because there are things happening...I would say star wars gets at least teased and you ll see quite a bit of avatar since this is the last D23 before it opens

Yes, but plans were leaked online. People build up in their heads that there will be more announcements of that scale and then that doesn't materialize.
