For those who still care,a new piece of concept art for the Beauty and the Beast castle is there.
EDIT-I guess I was beat in that.

Also, all attendees received a jumbo Mickey Mouse head-shaped pin, with Bandleader Mickey,D23 logo and "First anniversary" written on it.

So, in summary, they got 2 new pieces of concept art, a PR spill from WDI, some news about Mickey's and Minnie's house, a meet and greet with rather uninspiring characters (my opinion), some desert, a little food, some undecided decisions, and a pin.

Well worth it....

Oh, I forgot Philhar too.

Ball, meet drop.

Krank,I'm sure if you were there, you'd be acting like it was the best thing ever.

Oh,and you forgot what is equal to more than half the event price-1 day admission to MK.

And, I'm willing to bet the majority of the folks in attendance are AP holders, which makes the admission part moot.

It did not meet expectations or demonstrate what they could do for something like this. Heck, DL is getting a whole land open for them. That is a heck of a lot better than WDW's version. Seriously, nothing new here. It failed to deliver anything of note or to clarify many of the questions we have about the project.

This was not what could've and should've been done for this big "event".

Ok...its still early, and I am going to wait until Saturday afternoon and wait to hear from the folks actually there from wdwmagic to see what it was like. What we are currently hearing is like reading exit polls in presidential elections...Not accurate and unreliable.

The exit polls for this event are not good.

Had Joe Rhode, Marty Sklar, Tony Baxter or any big named Imagineer been there, then things may have been a little different. Heck, all attendees get invited back for FREE to be the first to ride the new fantasyland rides once there ready for open! Somthing like this is what I was expecting......

Your expectations. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but they never promised big news. They came through with the details.

If the AP holder's who could get in anyway saw the value and went,I think that's saying something.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I never said they were anyone else's expectations. On top of that, in the thread here on Magic, people were discussing what they expected. None of that was met. If they failed to meet my expectations or anyone else's for that matter, they failed to meet expectations, period. Simple. I do not understand why you feel the need to defend them on this. WDW D23 party got the shaft when compared to DL.

They did an excellent job of raising expectations and packing a wallop with the surprises at the Expo. This is a complete failure in my mind and nothing will change that. D23 has failed to meet my expectations as a member and the trend appears to be continuing.

This event was lame!

Man A: This event is "The Suck"

Man B: How dare ye! Who knows yet it if it will be good or bad.

Man A: Shut your smelly face.

Man B: Jump Cut!

SOME TIME LATER

Man A: Well, that was bupkis.

Man B: Well, they didn't promise anything.

Man A: But you said to wait and see?

Man B: Yes, but that still doesn't mean they promised anything, I just said to wait. You've been "Had" as it were.

Man A: So I was right?

Man B: No, I was right because I did the right thing. You just knew what was going to happen.

Man A: I feel like we both lost out on this deal.

Man B: Tough Turkeys.

Man A: Looked like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking.

Just to be clear, there was no REAL announcement about Mickey and Minnie's house. First, he said that they will be going but Mickey and Minnie will be relocated somewhere else in the Magic Kingdom. A lot of people in the audience showed a lot of disdain for the removal of the houses and kept bringing it up. He did a lot of sidestepping saying that MICKEY and MINNIE won't be going away because he already said the houses WERE going, just no dates yet. And when they announced the last question and it was pertaining to the houses he said that the meet and greets will not be eliminated.

I would be interested in what 'rare' characters were there.

Anyone know?

They billed it as a chance to meet characters that are not out often in the parks.

Any word?

Thanks!

I don't see how it is possible that they can keep the houses in Magic Kingdom. Now I do think there is a place they could go on property though. Does anyone think they may just move them over to the Backlot tours at DHS possibly? I just can't see where else they could put them and not do away with them.

Exactly. A pure waste in my opinion.

I think they said about two things we didn't know.

And that's exactly the problem...All style, no substance. I was fairly confident that this event would be a PR Read Off. It's a shame D32 has gotten predictable enough in it's mediocrity to do so.

They keep taking small steps forward....and then HUGE steps back, like this one, and the Non event of an Expo that won't be happening this year.

Can't put them on Backlot tour; they're Mickey's & Minnie's ACTUAL country homes, not props from a movie! ;)

I suppose. I was just trying to find a place that they could possibly put them. I doesn't seem like there is a place for them anywhere, yet they say they won't be demolished.

He DID say they were going to be demolished. What he said would not be demolished was Mickey and Minnie meet and greets.

Exactly. They never said that there would be "announcements". They only said that they would reveal additional details about the Fantasyland Expansion.

As for the appearing characters being "uninspiring", I'm going to have to disagree on that as well. Horace, Clarabelle and Gaston being out as a good move, as those are definetely 3 characters that haven't been seen in the parks in a good while.

Overall, I must agree that Krank is truly living up to his name by being cranky. :lookaroun
