One other thing to think about is the extreme cold. All the decorations have to be stored. Usually the temp is in the 60s and 70s so they can go right into boxes with no problem. Take dow a frozen ribbon and store it away for next year. What do you find when you go to put it up next year.....moldy ribbons.

Also working with intricate things in this cold with cold hands or mittens might result in broken decorations etc. so I say just give them a break and enjoy. I am hoping the decorations are still up on Thursday-my first day off. Unfortunately we had 2 deaths in the family between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I missed it all-including my birthday and wedding anniversary there and didn't get to Candlelite so just seeing the decorations would be great.

Decorations, I understand, can take time to remove (though this never really stopped Disney in the past). Still, with the marathon and all, not a big deal and understandable.

The music on the other hand... c'mon, is it really that hard to go to a computer and change from one playlist to the other? No excuse there.

And it makes the biggest difference too. Music changes the WHOLE mood of the park, and they should change it for the Holidays as carefully and succinctly as possible.

Not like in FW where the whole mood of futurism, exploration and discovery is killed by Silent Night. :zipit:

To let everyone know. Was at Epcot today and was very happy when I stepped into the park.
The BGM was changed back to the regular BGM. Extremely happy this was the case and made being in Epcot so much more enjoyable than it was 3 days ago when it was Christmas music. (and the cold weather subsiding)

We were not able to schedule a visit to MK before Christmas, and had missed the decorations. It was almost a bonus when we were there on Sunday and saw Main Street.

Could have done without the cold tho.

I think Disney really should at least try to do a better job of staying in season - the decorations are already going up entirely too early, and now they can't get 'em down after the holiday? Sorry, bad show ...

I don't know, I imagine for families that can't afford to make it DURING usual xmas time, this is kind of nice.. to still see the decorations, even if it is a little late. Just chilllllll

Yesterday (01/11/10), Studios had all its Christmas decorations up and music playing with the exception of a few things starting to come down from Dancing Lights and a few store windows changing.

Today (01/12/10), Christmas is gone. Studios had no Christmas decorations up except the lights still being taken down on Streets of America. The only other exception was some Christmas music playing on Sunset Blvd other than that all wreaths, garland, music, trees, etc.

All that action took place between 11:00pm (more like midnight after all the guests and cast cleared out) and 6:00am today.

Strangely enough, I wouldn't have an issue with it. Of course, I love Christmas time. Personally, I don't understand the complaining on this one. So what if the decor is still up? Most people always say "man I really want to see the Christmas decorations at Disney World." Well, now you have and didn't have to go at a "peak" time to see them.

Yeah, kinda agree completely with this post. I gotta admit, when I read the OP, the first thought that came to mind was that I'll be planning my next Disney trip in January next year!

Christmas decorations are going up in early (very early) November - that is value season - maybe they can go then, kwim?

Exactly. I never heard of people complaining about seeing Christmas decor and hearing music before. Most people love it and don't call it "bad show." And a lot of people still have their own decorations up as well. But I guess if you let something that simple ruin your vacation then that person is never going to be happy.

I agree. Don't let it get to you int he way that it would ruin your stay at WDW- if you do, then maybe something is wrong with you and not TDO's agenda.

Also, it feels more like Christmas now then it did on Christmas. Christmas felt like a Summer day and it sucked- so, so much.

I'm probably in the minority, but the past few years there have been little to no holiday decorations still up for the marathon weekend. It was nice to see the additional, festive lights and other stuff while running through the parks in the early morning hours. I agree with the Christmas music, though - not necessary.

...and in contrast to the physical removal of the decorations, you would think that the music loops could be switched over very rapidly... :shrug:

We ran the 1/2 and the full marathon last year and all the decorations were gone so I don't think it was all because of the races the decorations were still up.
