He plays stand-up bass in the orchestra, bass guitar and occasional keyboard in the band, and he's also an accomplished sax player (alto and bari)

Quite versatile - is a stand-up bass what I would call a double bass?

All I learnt to play was the voice. And self taught to strum a few chords on guitar.
