CSR - Casitas or Cabanas

My wife and I are celebrating our 5th anniversary at WDW in September and we are staying at CSR. We have never stayed at this resort and can't decide which section we would like to stay in.

I'm not really wanting to stay in the ranchos area (we are currently living in Texas, I don't need to see anymore of that) but we can't pick between the casitas and the cabanas.

The casitas really appeal to me. I love the sort of urban paradise kind of look they have and the lap pool would be nice for me.

I think my wife is a little more partial to the cabanas area. She loves the tropical beach setting and being close to the big pool would be really nice.

I really just can't decide. I'm not concerned with a long walk to the main lobby or anything, I really just want to nicest place to stay with the best surroundings. We want somewhere that we can take a quiet walk in the afternoon and just enjoy the sights.

Any advice?

We've stayed in both. The Casitas run around the lake, so it's possible you may have a far walk. Cabanas are not to bad. I would pick Cabanas. Either way, CS has beautiful landscape and views. Quiet pools at both are nice.

Congrats on your 5th anniversary-no better place to celebrate than at Disney!
I've only stayed at Cabanas at Coronado and loved it. It's quiet with a short walk to the lobby, food, and bus stops. Enjoy!

We've stayed at CSR a few times, and although we enjoyed all our accomodations, I'd pick the Cabanas.

Having said that, I don't know if you can choose your area or not. I know you can request, but I don't know if you can actually book a particular section. I'm sure someone on these boards would know about that.

We love both sections but are a bit more partial to Cabanas. Last trip to CSR, we requested and got 8B. It's great because the Dig Site pool is a few steps away and it's also close to the bridge to El Centro. Congratulations on your anniversary!

Yeah, I understand that I can only request, I am just looking for what I want to request. I don't really mind where we stay, I'll just be happy to be out of this drought and at WDW.

Stayed at the Casitas on my only visit. We were close to the lobby area, and the gym was there as well. We were pretty pleased with the location.

Well my favorite section is the ranchos, but I will say, on our first stay at CSR we went in without requesting a specific area, and I was really hoping for casitas or cabanas as well. However, we ended up in Ranchos 6A. I was originally disappointed with it, but it grew on me so much that every trip to CSR since we have requested this building! I say give a request of being close to either a bus stop, the pool, a quiet pool, or just go with a general "no parking lot view" request and see what you get. Our one stay at a different resort we made a request and ended up hating the building, the view, and the walk to the bus. I am so glad we didnt make a request for that first stay at CSR or I don't believe I would have ever got to enjoy the early morning walk to the front which is now one of the things I look forward to with our stays at CSR
I will say I don't think u can go wrong as long as u end up with a non-parking lot view, it helps to keep you in vacation mode wihout looking out your window at a parking lot, or steping out your door to see one. Whatever you end up with, I hope you have a great stay, and enjoy the resort as much as my family and I do!!

we've stayed in all 3 sections and I'd rank them

1. cabanas
2. casitas
3. ranchos

casitas is closest to fitness ctr but cabanas and ranchos are closer to the main pool

ranchos is farthest from lobby & rest's

I definitely say Cabanas. Casitas are a fairly big section as the resort and you could be quite far from the pool area.
