Hi, completely new to posting, but have been reading the forums for a while (need to get my regular Disney fix over here in the UK!!). My husband and I are both celebrating a big birthday next year and are seriously considering a Disney cruise. We don't have children and my question is, is it a bit odd going on a cruise without any?? We go to WDW as often as we can and never find it a problem.

My wife and I did it in 2011 and we booked another solo cruise in 2015 during the kids' first (probably only) cruise 8/25/13. I saw young couples on this last cruise who were kidless too. So, no, I don't think it's odd (the guys at work do though...but they aren't going :)). Y'all have fun, and Happy Birthdays...early.

Lots of people cruise Disney without kids, you may wish to book a trip which is outside school holidays the price will be lower and there will be more adults. Lots of things adults only do.

My parents went alone on the Disney cruise and said they won't do it again without grandchildren. Everything closed up too early and there were no late shows. They had late dining so their own choice for shows was around 6pm.

It is not odd at go on a DIsney cruise without children. My DH and I were surprised how many adults without children were on the two cruises we took this year. In fact, at dining (we had late dining) we were sat with couples that either had young adults like us or no children at all.

I agree whole-heartedly, book outside times when school is out. Our cruise in 2011 was towards the end of September and 2015 will probably be mid-September. The weather/water is still warm enough to enjoy, but there is the risk of a hurricane forming (we live w/in 100 miles of VA's coast, so we're familiar with them). You can get bad weather at any time though...

We've done cruises without our kids and had a great time. Disney ships are built with adult only areas and pools which is great when you're trying to get away. We enjoy the adult only shows at night which are around 10:30 and the clubs always have some night activities. :)

I felt perfectly fine on my Disney cruise without any kids. I also did not have any problem at all with lack of things to do. We had late dining, so the big show was before that. But there was always an adult show in the adult area after dinner, we went to that once - would have liked to go more often, but did not find the time. We had fun sitting in the bar, listening to the piano player until nearly midnight one evening. And there is always a late showing of a movie as well. Having a long and relaxing dinner at Palo was "entertainment" for us as well. If you are happy with the late night offerings at WDW (now after Pleasure Island is no longer around) then I don't think you will miss anything on the cruise.

Also in all other regards I never felt I was a less well regarded guest without children. I only noticed that the tables around us at dinner were getting their food quicker than us, we were on our own table for just the two of us. I thought that this might have something to do with the fact that those tables all had kids. And to be honest, I like leisurely meals, so was not put off in any way, I preferred to wait a few minutes longer for my food to arrive and not have impatient kids on the table next to me. So I thought that was a wise decision on the servers part.

We celebrated my wife's birthday on the inaugural Dream cruise alone, and have an Eastern Caribbean DCL cruise booked without the kids for our 10th wedding anniversary. I never felt out of place without my kids. Most people won't even be able to tell you don't have kids because so many have their kids in the kids club that it looks like a cruise full of just adults.
But seriously, there are lots of adult only things to do, or all ages things, so you never feel out of place. Enjoy the spa, the lounges/bars, the adults only pool, and the best part about an adults only DCL cruise... Serenity Bay - the adults only beach at Castaway Cay. It's so quiet and relaxing and one of the best views out there.

My husband and I are young (mid 20s) and we did a 4 night on the Dream last year. We did not feel out of place at all! We are not late night partiers to begin with but the variety of bars, adult only area, movies, pools and random entertainment (live music, etc.) was enough for us. We didn't even see the shows since my husband is not a fan of those types of productions! By the way...best time to go to the pools...no one is around.

We've been on 4 7-day cruises on Disney, all without Children. We're doing another in December without any kids too! Looking at planning one including The Little Princess (grand-daughter) in early 2015 though!

Sorry to jump into this thread, but i'm sitting in the same boat (or cruise ship). Thinking about heading on one as well without kids... 2 quick questions:

1) This is probably the dumbest of the two, but are there any room floors without kids? Shot in the dark, i know. I'd probably have to bunk with the CMs to find that.

2) Is there really no entertainment available at night? I mean, it cant be completely dead around 11 or so, can it?

1 - no, but plenty of adults only areas onboard.

2 - From looking at the Personal Navigators from past cruises, it looks like most adult venues are open until 12 midnight, perhaps 1am. Looks like The Tube on the Fantasy is open until 2am.

Thanks for the help. We're dying to get to castaway cay! Might have to take the plunge regardless.
