If it's like Hoop Dee Doo, you do have to put down a credit card as a guarantee in case you don't show up, but they don't actually charge anything if you're paying with the DDP.

To my knowledge, when you make a reservation for CRT a credit card must be given and it will be charged for the full amount of the meal at the time of booking. If you are on the dining plan I believe (could be wrong) that you are either credited back the $$ or given a gift card for the amount you were charged. I know if you are a TiW participant you are charged the full amount at the time of booking then either given a gift card with the discount savings or credited back the difference after the meal. We've always received the gift card. Not 100% sure about when using dining credits. We've never used them for CRT. I imagine they'll want to charge you up front to begin with to guarantee you show up and use your credits.

I know Akershus does the guarantee without charging the full amount at the time of booking....or at least they did as recently as 2009. Then if you are a no-show there was a $10/person penalty that got charged. I think CRT is different, no? Because of it's popularity and all. I could be wrong. Not sure. Never did CRT on the DDP, only with TiW which is totally different.

You should call WDW Dine and ask for sure. I was under the impression everyone was charged up front, DDP or not. It'd certainly be easier for them to wait until after the meal to charge the correct amount once for TiW but then that doesn't guarantee them the full amount for each person on the reservation which is, I think, what the point to doing that is. If a person made a reservation who intended to use the DDP and didn't get charged could close that account after making the ADR and then not show up leaving Disney with nothing in a restaurant that books solid well in advance almost all of the time. Ya know?

Since you can make the dining reservations using the online system, as well as calling a dining cast member, I have experienced two different ways of dealing with the CRT ADR and payment. When I tried to make the reservation via the online dining system, I was asked for my cc info. Before putting it in the system, I called the dining cast member, she told me that yes, when making it through the online system, even though you are on the Dining Plan, you have to put your cc info in the system and it will charge you in full. However, by calling and making it through the cast member, I did not have to pay for CRT at that time rather, I was just able to give my cc number.

I hope this helps.

Oh! A loop hole! Woot! Not that it's an issue, really, but I'm just a loop hole kinda girl. I like to know my options. So if you call and say you're on the DDP they take the CC # but don't charge it. Cool beans!

If you have a reservation confirmation number for your vacation package (that included dining) you can log into Disney's online reservation system and it will accept reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table or the dinner shows with only a credit card guarantee, not pre-payment.

Theoretically couldn't you book CRT w/a resort reservation number that includes the DDP at 180 days out then prior to your 45-day prior date drop the DDP from your reservation witout incurring a penalty thus exploiting this as a loop hole? Disney would have to have a safety measure built into their reservation system to pick this up with a cross-reference which I highly doubt they do.

I'm not saying this because I would DO it. I've had breakfast & dinner at CRT numerous times and wouldn't use 2 counter service credits for this particular meal if I was utilizing the DDP. I think there's better ways to utilize 2 TS credits to maximize their value but that's just me. I'm just sayin' this could be done, right?

Just want to chime in:

I have booked Cinderella's Royal Table 3 times on the Dining Plan and have NEVER paid in full in advance. (This last time it was for 12 people! That would have been a lot of money!)

Instead I just gave them my credit card number and was told if I did NOT show up for my dining reservations, I would be charged the full amount (didn't miss that reservation! :D)

All 3 times, I booked over the phone.

Same thing with Hoop De Doo and Akershus by the way. Never once charged in advance/ at time of booking.

Akershus & Hoop Dee Doo I thought were the same in the credit card guaranteeing the reservation then charged a $10 per person cancellation fee if you didn't show without cancelling 24 or 48 hours prior to the ADR. No? Wow! I'm soooo never gonna book another stupid CRT without at least trying to utilize the DDP clause. Do you know how much better it would be to not be charged until the meal when the TiW discount is applied instead of pay in full then we'll give you a gift card for the difference? Well, okay, not that I'm in such an all-fired hurry to go back to CRT either.... LOL!

Ive booked CRT, Akershaus, Hoop dee doo, etc. several times over the years where you have to secure w/ a credit card (we were on the deluxe dining plan).

Our credit card has NEVER been charged - I know I had made at least one of these online too.

we've also done crt several times while on the deluxe dining plan. the credit card only holds your table and won't be charged unless you don't show up. you have a certain amount of time to cancel the adr without penalty.
