Crowds For The Weekend

So I just read Jeff Lange's article over at JHM about the CM preview crowds. And it's getting me worried.

Are crowds going to be like that ALL WEEKEND? Are there going to be just as many (if not more) DVC/AP than there are CMs? Which day does everyone expect to be the most crowded?

And if this question has already been posed on another EE thread, please forgive me. I've been avoiding them so as not to have anything spoiled

The crowds I noticed throughout the weekend were only at EE. The rest of the park seemed almost deserted in comparison. Sunday was the worst day for CM previews from what I heard.

I plan on going Sunday, but my friend and I are getting there about an hour before the park opens so we can secure a prime spot.

Thanks for the info.

All the Orlando area media outlets are currently plugging Everest and mentioning passholder previews for the weekend. I'd get ready for some long lines.

If it is going to be anything like CM previews (and with the extended hours it seems Disney thinks it will be) ...just expect to wait. ---But that's okay, I think it is great being able to have the time to soak it all in for your first time! The queue is wonderful.

I think we might just see those grass parking lots used this weekend.

I'm actually excited to wait in line. Even though I plan to be there at 9am on Thursday; I'm sure I'll be there on the weekend and gladly wait in line and take in all the que detail.

Pretty amazing...a place where you actually want to wait in line.

I assume I won't be waiting too long, it seems like I can get a fastpass and come back later. Accordint to the press release... "Disney's FASTPASS® service will be also be available during the preview." This seems like a good sign for little waiting in line, but a long wait 'till my fastpass comes due.

will you be able to see the full queue area using fastpass or will be be an abreviated queue like some other rides?

while i dont care for waiting in long lines, i want to get the full experiance

My understanding is there are two distinct queues. The stand by queue is designed to bring new travellers "up to speed" on Everest and also warn about the mysterious "Yeti". The fastpass queue is for "seasoned" travellers who have been to Everest before. Joe Rohde said both are definately worth seeing.

Can't wait! I'll be there in just over a week!

When other rides opened for passholder weekend like Mission Space or Sorin were there long waits. Or is it that this ride is so greatly anticipated.

I wouldn't recommend Fastpass for your first visit, half the story is in the queue. The fastpass queue is nice, but it is nothing compared to the standby line.

For those wanting "the full experience" use standby for your first trip, then after that feel free to use fastpass all you want.:)

I know the EE path is going to be closed off... but where does the line start? Would it make more sense to enter on the Dinoland side or the Asia side?

This past weekend, they had the standby line entrance extending all the way under the fastpass distribution and out towards the restroom area along the path.

Long story short: the Asia side. (I'm just not sure if they plan to use the same set-up for AP previews.)

Okay help! Where is this article? I'd like to read it. I am such a nervous person and now i am worried about the crowds. Do you think the crowds will just be bad at AK or at all the parks? I am going for the weekend and it is my last trip for a while. And really when it boils down to it...who cares I am at Disney...however I just want to prepare myself. I am a planner :lookaroun

I'm pretty sure AK is just going to be the crowded one. And I think most of the crowd will be in line for Everest.
