The most important to me is taco Bell. Can't beat happy hour for a cold drink or freeze! Much more convenient than the one on 192.The only thing at The Crossroads of any significant value is Johnny's Hideaway.

Please explain the "simple" bridge plan in more detail. You need space to get up to the elevation and back down to grind level without a grade like the lift him on expedition Everest. I'm sure there are dot regulations that don't allow crazy grades on ramps.I'm not saying there wouldn't be an improvement, but I'm talking execution/effectiveness. The area heading toward Kissimmee is a big improvement, yes. The area heading to Disney is an improvement, but I believe there can be a better one that would reduce the amount of businesses that would have to close/relocate.
Instead of doing a big loop, they could simply build a bridge that goes over the road and onto the property. It probably wouldn't cost more either when you consider all the property they're wanting to buy up.
Did you read the article in the OP you cited as “fact?” It explicitly mentions alternative plans, one that would have preserved Crossroads and one that would only have moved a few businesses - so yeah, they’ve been “made public.”I just can't in this thread anymore.
It's been a year since this surfaced. At the end of the day, if a civil engineering firm (or whoever handles traffic theory or whatever it's called) had a better plan to address traffic in that area that saved Crossroads, don't all you tinfoil hat wearers think that it would have been made public by now?
You guys enjoy your conspiracy theories and paranoid gesticulations.
We've gone a 7-page thread without someone mentioning the Sweet Tomatoes that's round the back? I'll miss that one a lot for a nice plate of salad and healthy food after a week of Disney food!!
The conspiracy theorists on this thread are hilarious.
Yes, the only reason this is being discussed on a WDW message board is because the center is near WDW.This is a generic shopping center we’re talking about here, not some golden goose land of unique locations you can only find in Lake Buena Vista. The fact they’re being forced to leave is literally not news, this happens every where anytime major road projects get the greenlit. But the only reason this is “controversial” is because it’s located next to the entrance to WDW. If Disney was truly “out to get” the completion, they would go after every other dining and shopping establishment I the immediate vicinity of Disney Springs. You people need to get a damn life and stop wearing the tin foil. It gets boring after a while
Yes it was....Disney buys land,
Disney develops shopping center on said land,
Disney sells shopping center and land to another company,
Government comes in and takes land and businesses for new road to in part support development brought about by Disney.
If this was intentional on Disney's part it was genius!

It's become less necessary with time and is a product of its age, but the reason people speak of it with such passion is that there is somewhat of a nostalgia factor tied into it al.
Totally get what your saying here. In its hey day it was a nice place to go and eat and get some groceries. Kinda has lost it's luster now. I think I would rather have the new road system because of how bad it can get in that area. Really should have been done years and years ago.Disney built this shopping center, so it is part of the company's history.
For tens of thousands of tourists every year, for decades, Crossroads was a major destination for food, drinks and shopping. Yes, it's a generic shopping center but for myself and many others it was an essential part of a trip to Disney. You must remember visiting Disney 20-25 years ago, Downtown Disney had few options, the Dining Plan didn't exist (mercifully) and way more people had vehicles. With all of this combined, people would frequently drive their cars to real restaurants and bars, just off property. Add to this the fact that for many Disney Cast Members, particularly those in the College Program, relegated to Vista Way or Chatham, Crossroads was a place to grab a quick bite and escape the Disney bubble.

So for those of you who just see this as 'just another shopping center', maybe you should consider places that were special to you...and think about how you'd feel if they all got torn down and taken away from you. Crossroads was a good part of the last 17 years of my life. Good times at places with friends and family.
You seem to be confusing your subjective memories with those of other posters.Fine, I'll buy the "I'm sad to see it go because of the memories" excuse because I feel the same about certain places that have shut its doors in my hometown. However, this place has no nostalgic home in my WDW visits. To me, it has always been the insane shopping center across the street. I'll be glad to see it go because it will alleviate so much chaos in the area. But at this point people are moaning just to moan, the tag line of WDWMagic lately.
For fans of WDW at its peak, it happens A LOT.Something that has happened to literally everyone. Older you get, the more it will happen. Keep the memories and move on.
Fudrucker's is the only thing I will miss, but there are now so many other good burger places now that I am fairly certain I will get over it with a minimal amount of therapy.Alright then. We didn’t want this fight, but it is upon us.
Time to chain myself to the toppings bar at Fuddruckers.
Tastiest protest ever.
