Creature Comforts at Disney's Animal Kingdom to become Starbucks

I think a very high majority of people who visit all those shops in the world showcase never buy a thing. If I'm going to WDW and I have x amount of souvenir dollars I'm probably spending it on something that, you know, actually says WDW on it. Not a hand carved stick from an Africa hut. While those things are nice and I'm glad they have that stuff, the majority of merchandise has to be stuff people actually will buy.

I tend to agree. I can understand the desire for unique/themed merchandise, but for a huge amount of guests, that would only result in them amusingly looking at the stuff and then moving on without buying anything. I think these boards tend to overestimate the demand that exists for unique items.

Love those Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes! :hungry: Not at WDW though as I am still mad at them for ruining my escape from the real world and Main Street Bakery. Back on topic, the shops are never that busy when we go so maybe they are just adjusting to guest demand. Would love to see them add a decent breakfast option other than Rainforest (which is not decent).

Doesn't Tusker do breakfast?

I somewhat agree about unique items but isn't attraction specific and park specific merch fairly popular? At least it seems to be lately because they keep coming out with stuff. I saw a bunch of new MK specific stuff and they have that Marketplace Co-Op. I think it's overestimated but there's clearly a demand for it.

I think the desire is for Unique WDW items, so things branded with specific rides/attractions & parks. Also specific resort items, although personally I really don't want a Port Orleans Riverside t-shirt, but a pin, mug or small keepsake would be nice. I agree that not many people at WDW would be looking for African sticks but I have spent a lot of cash in Mitosuki shop in Japan at Epcot.

As does Pizzafari.

It does we tried a few weeks ago and we were very surprised but the sandwich was very good. Since it is a pizza place why no breakfast pizza? Not to drift too much but my question is still where are people eating breakfast? There were only a few others in there and breakfast options seem to have declined (minus Character meals) over the years. Boatwright's was impossible to get in to for breakfast and now they don't even offer it. Again, sorry for the drift. Opinion has not changed regarding Starbuck's in the parks. We went to Main Street Bakery and walked out when we realized that all of the original items had been replaced with items that can be found 5 miles away from home. I thought at least a few Disney-made items would have remained.

Not sure about others, but when i wanted a decent sit-down breakfast within the Parks that did not involve a character meal these were my stops -

EPCOT - The Land ( good eats downstairs in the 'mall food court' )
DAK - Pizzafari ( almost always empty and Cast were always anxious to chat and 'hang out' with me )
DHS - Starring Rolls Bakery ( for the breakfast pastries and hot drinks ...not a place for a 'full meal' per say. )

I usually did not have breakfast within MK proper...but would instead have a morning meal at the Kona Cafe over at the Poly.
Once in a great while i would do Chef Mickey's for the buffet, but that was usually only when i was meeting up with friends in the area.

The best breakfast options are all off-property as far as variety and budget options go. IHOP, Bob Evans, etc.

I think the dining plan almost encourages people to skip breakfast as it only offers two meals on the plan. We would often have a coffee in the morning (sometimes with cake leftover from counterservice dessert!), an early lunch, an ice cream snack and then a table service dinner.

Creature Comforts photo update as of Saturday, Jan 10. The store is closed and outdoor kiosks have been removed.

When did they paint the trim brown? I swear it used to be light purple (and fun).

The bright colors of the intricate woodwork on all the Discovery Island buildings has been one of my favorite things about DAK since it opened. This brown is just gross.

The original paint job was a little too busy. This one is a little too boring. But you are right. People will by the coffee regardless.
