Creations Shop opening this summer

Like really.. “Mickey Mouse” / bland sleek Disney Store/Shop Disney was the best overarching theme & concept they came up with for the theme of “creations” within ‘EPCOT’?? Why even call it “Creations” at that point. You may aswell just keep the previously bad “Mouse Gear” name (which went along with the poorly fit theming before) at that point.. since it’s Mickey Mouse themed (yet again) with Disney ‘Gear’.. or heck, even “Mickey Shop” or “Disney Shop” would be more fitting at this point. LOL

I’ve have just never really cared what name stores in the parks have…

I honestly don’t think I have even looked at the names when in the parks, I just see a door, air conditioning, and I go inside. 😅
I mean.. I get what you’re saying.. but in all honesty, I’m shocked more people aren’t complaining about the tired/reused/bland Mickey Mouse theme they’re using for this again than the name. If the theme was actually surrounded upon ‘EPCOT’’s creations/creativity.. it’d work.

I can’t anymore with this thread. What do people want this shop to look like?
A store directly tying into EPCOT itself.. possibly with a loose Dreamport inspired theme (from the original Journey Into Imagination ride) with each section dedicated to the different “creative realms” of EPCOT.. ‘EPCOT Creations’.. each section separated by attraction & section of the park it’s located in. Along with featuring some of our favorite EPCOT characters (Figment & Dreamfinder, Buzzy & General Knowledge, Horizons robots, etc.) along with perhaps Mickey & Friends dressed in EPCOT-specific atire (representing the different countries of World Showcase & perhaps a more modern take of their Future World outfits.)

Reading The Zach gush about how their intentions for World Celebration are being 'boldy announced in the blue of our new popcorn kiosk' is concerning.

On several levels.

They better not be planning to paint the entire former Communicore building the same color blue.
Just, NO.

😑

Well, it can't look too much like a modern store because that would be too generic. It can't have characters, though, as that would go against the theme of Epcot. It can/should have Epcot characters like Figment and Dreamfinder, however. It should look clean, sleek, and futuristic. Not in the way that something like an Apple Store does, though, as that's also too generic. More like a kind of store you have never seen before, as Centorium did. The lighting should also be something we have never seen before, not LEDs. Same goes for the floor. The end result should be a perfect encapsulation of the ethos of Epcot.

As for the name, Creations is terrible. It should be a word that encapsulates the idea of Epcot in the way that you might imagine it in your mind.

Is there anyone that thinks Creations Shop is a good name?

If it was just Creations, sure. I don't think that's an amazing name, but it's okay. Throwing the word "Shop" on the end is awful, though.
I have a feeling they just wanted it to be Creations, but someone forced "Shop" to be tacked onto the end so that people understood it was retail. I've noticed this trend with marketing insisting a piece of media be called "the ____ movie" or "the ____ game" because they feel like people are ultra dense or something and don't want to leave room for confusion. We'll see what the signage looks like, though. I'm imagining it will put significantly more emphasis on the "Creations" part of the name.

I get the impression that you won't be happy unless it's about Figment. 🤷‍♂️

No.. the theme is supposed to be ‘Creativity’ and EPCOT, right? What theme do you know represents ‘creativity’ and yet is distinctly EPCOT at the same time? The original Journey Into Imagination, right? It wouldn’t even have to be on the nose & blatantly “Figment”-themed everywhere.. I said “loosely inspired” by the ‘Dreamport’ scene (which was abstract & about showcasing ideas in general) , meaning it should still be it’s own unique design, yet take ‘notes’ from that particular show scene.. in being it’s a showcase of ‘EPCOT’s Creations’ each area of the store is split into showcasing the ideas for each ‘section & attraction’ in the park.. that is not “making it all about Figment”. It’s making it all about ‘EPCOT’ itself; At the same time though, considering they want more “characters” in the place. It’d be a lot better for them to use ‘EPCOT’ characters (not ‘just’ Figment, I might add.. but the other EPCOT characters like Buzzy, the robot butler from Horizons, , some of the folks you see in Spaceship Earth, etc. ‘alongside’ characters like Mickey & Friends in appropriate ‘EPCOT themed attire’ (It was like that during the Centorium days 👀), not just bland Mickey Mouse/World of Disney shop. They could’ve taken the elements that worked about Centorium initially and boosted the overall theme of ‘creations’ with the focus being on ‘EPCOT’ itself. There ya have it. We don’t just want ‘Centorium’ or ‘MouseGear’ again, we want what a new EPCOT store could & should be…

The "shop" part of it not so much, but I honestly don't mind "Creations" as a name and assume that's what people will call it. I imagine the "shop" has been put there just to clarify on maps, etc. what it is. To me, getting upset about the 'shop' part seems like getting upset about Disneyland 'Park'.

I can see why people might find 'Creations' a bit nondescript, but it seems in keeping with the nomenclature of Epcot to me. Certainly more so than MouseGear. It might not be as cool as Centorium, mind you, but then I'm pretty sure if they brought that back it would officially be Centorium Shop!

I see what you’re saying, though basing things off of attractions that haven’t existed for years may not be in their interest. This sounds like a great idea for a pop up shop for Epcot’s 40th though!

thank you for clarifying, I thought I was missing something ;)

I'm gonna let the name slide until I see the final product. On the surface it seems pretty vanilla, but so often if the thing is successful the name becomes great. EPCOT as a concept is proof of that.
