You have got to be kidding me!?! It was there during the last week of Aug. last year. This year with all the walls around, I said to myself, well, at the least the crane will be there and gone by the time I show up!

That dang crane is going to be there the whole time I'm there! :fork:

I would have thought they would have the crane out of the way before MNSSHP started up... I don't know why, I just made that up in my head!

Pictures with the castle and crane are so chraming.

I feel bad for the people who are going to be there during that period only. It is for a good reason, but that crane just ruins everything.

why dont they leave the lights up all year round if they are practically
invisable?

They'd still have to drag it out around the same time for maintenence which could take longer since they'd have to check each bulb.

I know that getting that crane into and out of the park is a chore, but maybe they could try doing that on 3rd shift only.

They do the install after hours, but the crane still has to park there for the entire duration.

Mind you that with extended park hours, MK has the shortest 3rd shift time available of all of the parks.

thats good to know then. what with all the walls up in fantasyland already, i think a crane hovering over the castle while the park was open to guests would really get a lot of people angry.

I won't have to see the crane at all, it comes in the day after I leave. So weird that the lights will be on the castle when my family and I return just 3 weeks later.

I was dissapointed to see this. The time it is up covers almost our entire trip. At least it should be down for a day or two before we leave so we can get our pictures then. The castle isn't very magical with a giant crane hovering over it. Oh well I guess it has to be done some time.

When I was there last August the crane was up in plain sight in the middle of the day! You couldn't miss it. Lucky by the end of our trip the crane was done and we did get a few pics without it in the picture!

is this install period SHORTER than last year? those dates seem like they have it all down to a science now, esp since they wont have to do much repair on the castle this year after the last two years of referbishment..

Less worried about the lights going up...More worried about them coming down, since we'll be there Jan. 3 - 10, and I'm pretty sure I read the lights will be on the castle through Jan. 4th. Are we screwed?

Guys, don't worry. The crane was there on my last trip and it broke my heart. But thankfully, they remove/lower it about mid-day. It is completely out of view. So, your pictures will not be completely ruined. :)
