Agreed! And what is wonderful about Disney, is that with even some of their "thrill" rides, like ToT, RnRC, and other motion rides, the themeing is so unique, most families can still enjoy them together, and come off them laughing together, having the feeling that they've shared something special together.

If Disney World decides to remodel its landmark, classic attractions, I find no reason to go. The recent remakes and replacements have been horrible, and the crowds visiting the classics have been ever strong for the past 50 years.

As I put in my profile,

"Some may say that sentimental value isn't enough to go on. Well, friends, that's all we have to go on." - Jacob Addison

Long live Disney. Long live its unfortunately fading American values.

Here's a charming email a Cast Member sent me. Very touching:

"The show has been seeing excellent crowds, especially during peak times for the park (around noon to 3:00). During those hours it's not unusual to fill up the theater and have to ask people to wait for the next show. The crowds were surprisingly
heavy for the Christmas show. We had to open up a substantial queue line and it was not at all unusual for folks to have to wait through two or three shows to get in.

...

A lot of folks make it a point to say how much they enjoy the
bears. I get a special kick from a few circumstances in particular: parents (or grandparents) saying they've always loved the show and delight in showing their kids (or grandkids) for the first time; west coast visitors who bemoan the closure of the Disneyland attraction and really relish seeing the bears at WDW; and a couple of handicapped kids who show up at Grizzly Hall almost
every weekend. These include a girl with autism who insists on sitting front and center at the show, and a wheelchair bound boy named Fana who is absolutely infatuated with the bears."

Even if Disney doesn't change the show one bit, they could still fix it so that the characters' mouths move in sync with the sound track. I'm sure technology has improved to that point over the past 30 years. And we have a better sound system in my family room than in that theatre. It sounds all muffled. If they just improved the technology a bit, it would increase the appeal of the show.

Most people don't walk around the Magic Kingdom carrying as much emotional baggage and as many chips on their shoulder as you do. The world is changing and will be here when you and all your sentiment have passed away and Disney needs to plan for that. Today's new attraction will be the next generation's sentimental, American-values classic. Change doesn't mean loss of values or different values. It just means that now we have technology in our homes that surpasses what we saw at Disney World 30 years ago. So Disney needs to keep a step ahead.

I have a lot of Disney memories and seeing changes there is always bittersweet for me. I think Disney is doing a decent job of keeping a balance between old and new.

The wait for Country Bears used to be one to two hours pretty much any time of day during the summer. The above quote tells me that the popularity has plummeted in the last couple of decades.

Try going to the Country Bear Jamboree...

The appeal of the show is tremendous! Crowds are not a problem. I'll go tally for you. However, I agree. We can *always* improve on technology - in ***any*** attraction. I'm not against this.

Right now, yes. However, if they remove everything, which is what we're kinda discussing here, there won't be a balance.

Yeah. Why not close down Disney World? It's attendance has plummeted. :animwink:

As far as arguing on there being no American culture or Disney spirituality, we broaden this idea to the parks and the company itself. These values were the basis Walt Disney created Disneyland. Country Bear Jamboree is an attraction where groups of all ages, all ethnicities, can come together and enjoy a hilarious and entertaining show. Yes, some people don't find it entertaining. That's natural.

Here are pictures of the CBJ guests in February. The were actually forming a group that waited in front of the CBJ before its doors were open.

There were a few children.

Grizz, your pictures prove nothing. I can post pictures of a KKK rally, and that doesn't mean that attendence is high, and there is an overwhelming love of the KKK by grandparents, parents, and kids.

I asked this before, with humor, but now I'll ask it as a serious question. Name one thing presented in the CBJ that speaks to American family values.

The Disney Spirit is ever-present. Just dig a little.

Why, look above at the pictures. A place where the parents and the children - the old and the young - all groups - can have fun together. A bond, sought out in the creation of Disneyland and other forms of Disney entertaining, that creates the unity necessary for a brighter tomorrow. It's the tradition - the American way - that Walt sought out as a purpose of his ever-magical workings!!

OK, Grizz, how about this?

The Country Bears do a revival at Disney World complete with faith healing and speaking in tongues.

I hear Jim Bakker is making a comeback. He could join 'em.
